have a nice home. I would l;ike a young dog. My dog was stolen and I miss her terribly. I need a special dog to take her place, even though another dog won't really take her place, it will help ease the lonliness.

These dogs are even cheaper than free, as they have been altered and vet checked and vaccinated, etc.. > http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?action=1&pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=&pet.Age=Young&pet.Size=S&pet.Sex=&location=77001&preview=1&scope=2&x=11&y=8

Please! Go to a shelter or rescue place to get a new dog or any pet. It may cost a little-well worth the amount. The workers there can tell you which ones have a good temperament and will get along with the grand kids. Take the grand kids with you so that they can help pick one out. I would recommend NOT getting a younger dog or special needs dog. Local newspapers and web-sites are your best source for finding a free dog. Someone took my dog and I was devastated. I replaced it with a special needs dog (a blind Huskies) and he killed my sons cat, so he had to be taken back to the shelter.

A shelter dog is my vote as well. Or a rescue organization. You have to pay a fee, but it usually covers all vaccinations and spay or neuter. Petfinder is a great place to search and find your next dog.

Also, a lot of small breeds are not good with children, as they are more "delicate" and can have their legs and such broken easily. Pugs are bad to have around young children, because their bulging eyes are easy to "target" even on accident. Smaller dogs also tend to be more hyper, and less trained, also not good for around small children.

Good Luck!

Go to www.petfinders.com and search shelters near your home for kid friendly pups and dogs.

I found my sweet young dog through that site. All the listings show if the dog is kid friendly and cat friendly.

Just about every shelter in the USA and Canada list their adotable dogs there.
