Just want to know if it is "legal" thats all.....is there a law enforcement person that can give me a correct answer? im understanding no fcc license is required because the frequency / power is low enough to not require one. I am being told thats its not illegal but nobody seems to be absolute sure.....i want to know 100%

I don't know why you would want to have a several thousand dollar piece of equipment in your car that you can't use. since you can't write anyone a ticket.

And of course the equipment has to be licenced with the FCC.

And of course if you merely want to know the exact speed of your car, the newer GPS units will show exact speed based on tracking.

But I guess if you wan to buy a set and run it, you could, although it would be of no value to you

It's a technical piece of work that has to meet Government standards,it's not legal in most states for you use a radar detecting device in your vehicle. If it were, the car manufactures would jump all over it.You can use radar in your car ,it want do you any good,if it doesn't meet the standards.

The short answer is yes, it's legal.
My question to you is why would you want one? For $10.00 you could get your speedometer calibrated and know exactly how fast you are going. It's an expensive useless toy for a civilian and they are suspected of causing testicular cancer too.
If you're gonna waste lots of money buy a LIDAR (laser) at least you could use it to measure distances too!

YES YOU CAN OWN IT but why, unless you are trained to calibrate it its useless and the minimum cost is 3000.00 usd your vehicle as to be perfectly grounded or it will cause interference get you a new gps unless that is you want to give motorist a panic by setting it up but that's kids game and can cause you legal problems

Well, there's a possibility of the police radars being disturbed or interferred by your equipments. It's better you should take some legal advise.
