Get some treats to shake as you nicely call the cat. No treats? Get a can of tuna and open it into a bowl as you call the cat. Leave it in a conspicuous place near the door. Eventually the cat will come because he knows where the food and beds are.

Sorry to hear this, I know Your worried terribly. You didn't say if He goes outside sometimes. I feed My Cats dry and wet food. So the Cats know the sound of the can. I can take a spoon and tap on the can and almost always My male Cat would hear it and come in, to eat. He was an inside/outside cat.
While I was on vacation My Son left a window open for air, three went out, and only two came back. These were all rescued feral cats, that were inside Cats. They came back at different times and both the next day, after the sun had come up. They pawed at the window and doors to be let in. My littlest one, did not come back. It took five weeks but I finally got Him back. I had to trap Him. So hopefully Your Cat will be like the first two I spoke of. They do know where They live, the little one had been eating here the whole time, just late at night. So put the food and water out. And the idea about the clothes with Your scent is a good idea as well.
I know this is very important to You. I have said a prayer for His safe return.
God Bless and Best Wishes

shake a box of dry cat food, keep calling it's name, and relax. It's a cat. They know where they live. They always come back. It's not like a dog that takes off and gets stupid and doesn't think to come home. Cats have that great ability to know and appreciate where home is. The cat will come back. Promise. Just relax and realize that he's out there investigating and having a good old time. It's all good!!!

Try searching with a flashlight. The cat's eyes will glow green in the dark because of the reflection from the back of the eyes (retinas). The cat may be frightened and hiding under a bush or something in your yard or your immediate neighborhood. Try calling the cat the way you do when you feed him. Move around slowly and try to avoid frightening him.
It sounds like this is very upsetting to you. We had an indoor cat once who got outside at night. We spent an hour or so walking around the neighborhood with a flashlight. Found lots of sets of green eyes under bushes, but none of them was hers! When we got home, she was sitting in the middle of our driveway, waiting for us. Good luck to you!

It's probably not a good idea to leave food out overnight. Raccoons will eat it and you won't know if he got it or not. Put some of your unwashed clothing outside. Cats recognise their homes more by scent than sight. This is especially important if he is an "escaped" indoor cat.
The indoor cat who finds himself outside is usually very frightened and overwhelmed by this new environment. He might very well be hiding in the bushes quite near your house.
Of course, if he is an unneutered male he may be gone for a few days.
Hope he gets back to you safely.

My cats don't go outside either, but when they have sneaked out of the front door, I have a bag of treats that makes noise when I shake it and they always come running. Does your cat come to the noise of it's food hitting the dish?

Well if you still cant find him for more than a day, put up lost cat signs around your streets and blocks. You can also put out your cats favorite food and see if he will come back. and if you ever get him back, it would be a good idea to get him a collar. Good luck! I hope you find him!

It's not uncommon for a male cat to run off and not come home! It's just their nature. Mine used to leave and not come home for a whole week! It STRESSED me out. Just check for him frequently, call for him, he'll come home eventually. It's probably best to monitor him from now on, maybe try a leash, or just keep him indoors. I'm sure your cat is fine, but cats do wander and they can get into danger!

The cat came back, the very next day
The cat came back...I thought he was a gonner but
The cat came back'
He just couldn't stay away.
This is very often true. Leave a window open a little so he can get in whenever he returns from his hunting/exploring trip.

He will probably come back. Cat's tend to wander, but know where the food is. My cat got out one afternoon and we looked all around with no luck. About 3am, he was at our bedroom window, howling to be let back in.
