Wont happen, this is the selling points for PS3, some people never owned a PS1 or PS2 so if they buy a PS3 they will be very happy,

helllllll no. haha, You can dream all you want man, that PS3 is goin to cost roughly the same with or without them engines in there. Even thou thats not an option, the biggest price consuming piece of hardware in the PS3 is that Blu Ray technology, the ability to read HD DVD Roms. Thats the bigges chunk right there. If they wanted to cut out just the PS2 engine it would only drop the price like 50 dollars, not to big of a percent when your talkin about a $600 machine here. I dont think the PS3 is really gonna be worth it. I think Sony lost this gen war. Nintendo and Microsoft is gonna be in the lead.

That would be a nice idea, especially since the vast majority of people seem to be unable to play an "old" game when newer ones are around, but it's probably not going to happen. Besides, what's really skyrocketing the PS3 price is the Blu-Ray drives in each one.

i think i would try to go the best way and the cheapest way if you can do both...sometimes though it is better to spend a little more money for a better product....
