Is there an easier-to-use compression tool for Mac OS X than RAR? I don't want a command-line-based compression tool if I can help it (I have to leave my non-computer friendly girlfriend with the task of compressing files), so I'd prefer a graphic interface.

You can use the built-in zip compression, available with Mac OS 10.3+. Just select your desired files or folders, right-click (control-click) on them, and then select "Create Archive of..."

Another option that would be good is to purchace one of the Stuffit products. The link is for the free expander, but check out all the file formats.

If your files need to be associated with Windows, zip will do just fine. DropZip from StuffIt Standard will do just that by simply select whatever you need to compress then drag and drop to DropZip Icon. It would create a Zip Archive for you.
