Girls names are easier than boys because there's more variety out there and you can even make up girls names. A few suggestions:

Don't name a child after a Native American tribe. Tribal names tend to have religious meanings, so usurping them can be highly insulting. Also, you may just find that it has a corresponding descriptive translation that may not be flattering either. If you want a Native American name, consult a medicine man, or at the very least, check out a dictionary before picking one out.

But, it might be fun to try on one of the Christian/Anglicized names many Native Americans use. My dad's name, Ben Henry (a two-word first name made up of Anglicized nick names that is popular among my people) is one of my favorites. It's not the actual words that make them special, but the arrangement that makes it fun.

When naming my soon-to-be born son, I was looking for names that were unique, but not so different that he would be picked on. A lot of Japanese names lend themselves to that purpose. Here are a few foreign names that I like because they aren't too out there:

Kenji - (Ken G) - male: second son. It's pronounced the way it looks and has the advantage of sharing the English nickname of Ken in both Japanese and English.

Meguumi - (Meg goo me) - female: charity. It's a pretty Japanese name and has the advantage of the English nickname Meg.

Ahren - (Aaron) - male: Eagle ruler. It's German, has a nice meaning, and can be pronounced just like the English form, just with a fun spelling.

Happy hunting
