I hit the gym in phases, but im not always sure what im doing is helping. Im looking for the confidence to keep going and progress.

Go on a permanent high-protein diet and begin lifting weights. Read about and understand the diet before you commit to it. Protein builds muscle tissue; carbohydrates build fat and raise blood insulin because they also increase blood sugars. As a result of the insulin, the body also creates excess cholesterol which can cause plaque in the arteries.
