We see cats drinking milk in commercials, old tv shows and the like. But the fact of the matter is that most cats are lactose intolerant. That means that they can't digest the sugars in milk. Milk also has very little to no nutritional value for cats. The fact of the matter is that a cat fed only on milk will die of malnutrition. However most cats LOVE the taste of milk, so what do you do?
As a staple cats should always have fresh, cool water available to them. As long as your cat isn't lactose intolerant, milk is not bad for cats if it is given as an occasional treat (think of it as kitty junk food). The first step is to determine if your cat likes milk. If your cat does like milk then determine is he or she is lactose intolerant. If your cat is lactose intolerant then he/she will have a little diarrhea and a little stomach problems for a few days after drinking the milk. In this case you will definitely want to give your kitty a milk substitute created for cats. Such a substitute is created to have some nutritional value for cats while not upsetting their stomachs as real milk can. A good substitute is Cat's Sip, it can be found in your local pet store or grocery store. Many veterinarians suggest that if your cat does like milk and even if he/she isn't lactose intolerant that you should get him/her used to a milk substitute anyhow as it is better for the cat.

determine there is not any longer something medically incorrect consisting of your cat to reason the burden with the aid of fact there stable be. determine the middle is high quality and locate out how lots it is going to weigh from the vet. Even a 21 pound cat is actual heavy. you could proceed feeding what it many times eats yet you should feed it two times an afternoon and not extra bowls of foodstuff out for grazing (loose feeding). study the feeding instructions on the bag. locate the quantity of foodstuff for a 24 pound cat. Divide that quantity into 2 feedings and that's what you do till the cat loses 2 kilos. that ought to take countless weeks. Cats do no longer drop extra pounds like people. it ought to lose purely some ouncesa week. while it gets to 24 kilos you feed the quantity a 22 pound cat ought to get and persist with that till it gets there. while the cat has lost approximately 4 kilos and has no heart themes then you certainly can strengthen the interest point a pair circumstances an afternoon utilising a kitty teaser or laser easy. do no longer try this till the cat has lost slightly weight because it rather is too stressful on the middle. in case you reside in a 2-tale place, placed the clutter field upstairs.

Cats are lactose intolerant so the only milk that you can safely feed your cat without causing stomach problems is goat's milk or the cat milk you buy in your pet section.

I recommend you buy a special milk made for cats in the cat food section of your grocery store.
Milk can give some cats digestive problems (which leads to a messy litter box), so you probably should not give it to your kitty.

I have heard that it is not good to give any cat of any age milk. I always gaive my cats milk only as a treat though. A steady diet of milk is harmful.

Of course not! Cats love milk. Just look at any cow barn and see if you don't find a few friendly felines waiting for the spill over. My cat use to stand in front of the fridge and cry me-ilk instead of meow.
