Maybe, maybe not. But if they do find out you have the pet you'll likely lose your deposit and have to remove the pet and/or leave the property. Every lease has a contract, I'd be sure to read it very closely before you decide to break the rules. You could face some serious damage charges as well. Since your mom signed the contract she would have to abide by the legal document.

The landlords can usually come by whenever they want and check things out. Have your mom check her lease to see if they have to give notice. If they do, just take the dog to a friend's house whenever they're coming over.

If you get a letter from your doctor stating that your dog is a "service animal," and improves your mental health (which when you stop and think about it is true for all of us with pets; there is research out there about this). With this letter, you cannot be evicted, nor charged a pet deposit or pet fee per month. True! Good luck!

No, you are on a honor code. However, if they hear or see you with a pet,it could mean your Mom will need to pay a pet damage security fee or fine. It just depends if she signed a lease promising not to have a pet.

If your neighbors report you or if the landlord sees the dog they could evict you.
