After bootcamp and your 10 days leave, you will report to school of infantry at either Pendleton, or Lejeune. It depends on where you went to boot camp. Did you go to San Diego, Or Parris Island? Anyways, SOI is a few months long. After SOI you will have a little graduation, (not as important as boot) and then you will go to your MOS school. My husband is Infantry, and he is an 0341 Mortarman, who is currently in Iraq. Usually when you sign up, you sign up for the MOS field of 0300. Which is Infantry. You won't get assigned an actual MOS until you go to SOI. Like, you will either get 0311, 0341, 0331, 0351, you get it... But good luck, and I wish you the best!

well unless you are a reservist who has that mos locked on you may not be an assaultman, heres what happens, you go to soi, they give you a wishlist you put assaultman and they put you in the weapons platoon, there are 3 platoons 2 0311 and one weapons, assualtmen machinegunners and mortarmen, once you are in weapons they will decide where they want to put you, they might not need assaultmen so they could make you a machinegunner, or if you fail written tests you might get put in and 0311 platoon, i think soi is a month and a half long, then you go to the fleet, a line unit, and that is all you do is train and deploy, have fun

I advise you to become a combat engineer instead of assaultman.

Combat engineer is just like assaultman, but you build things in peacetime instead of sitting around getting jobs that are too dirty for the specialized soldiers.

A combat engineer builds what needs to be built, and blows up what needs to be blown up.

You would also be charged with breaching buildings with explosives.

Buddy I am a Military Police officer. You do BT learn basics, then you move onto your AIT which is your mos. You will learn the basics there. Most of your actual training comes from your unit to which you are assigned to. Any ? reply to me.
