In Genesis 28:10, Jacob has a dream about a stairway reaching to heaven with the angels going up and down it. And God told him that He'd give him the land he was in, and that his descendants would be great. There's more, too, but I'll leave it at that

In a dream of Jacob (the father of the 12 men whose children formed the 12 tribes of Israel), the ladder reached from earth to heaven. The angels used it to travel back and forth to carry out their assignments. Genesis 28:12

i don't know the story well, but you can look it up, it's something about jacob receiving a message from God via the angels and he has this awesome vision of a ladder ascending up into heaven. it's in the old testament somewhere i believe. good luck w/ it

Genesis 28:10-13, "And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;"
