It's a cigarette. A f a g g o t is also a British term for tinder wood.
When they burned witches in England, they used to rope homosexuals underneath the witches platform, and because they were bunched together they were called fags, or faggots. In England, the common term for a cigarette is "f a g"...relating to a stick. A death stick at that. Don't smoke.

The gay & cigerrette refs are all true, although I think it usually refers to a newly "out" or younger gay (and keen to impress) man, or is that 'chicken'?

It also used to refer to a young boy (Fresher? U.S) who did chores (under threat of retribution) for elder boys in an English boarding school. Lots of English novels about school life use the term.

Update: 'Fa g g o t' also means a kind of meatball - who remembers Brain's Faggots? (Why is it OK to spell it as a plural, but gets *****'d if singular? Wierd!

It's a cigarette, and it's English, not British! English = language. British = nationality

It's a cigarette.

It also means (including in America) a bundle of sticks used to kindle a fire. That is why gays are called fags - because they were often burned at the stake, with the aid of a *** or could be considered the "kindling" for the fire.
