Well... I had THREE different doctors tell me that I would never be capable of conceiving a child. My son is now 3 yrs old. So no they are not always right.

I think that if a doctor is actually doing their job, which is not just diagnosing the problem but actually caring about their patient and spending time on them, then yes, I think that they will be right more often than not.
Regretfully I think that many of them just sort of breeze through and do a minimum of work with the hopes of getting maximum pay.
I know, a bitter and cynical thought, but doctors and I have not always been on the same wavelengths.
Love as always,
Sebastian

nope
some are real people
with real concerns
they might be worried about picking up their kid for soccer practice
while they tell you to walk it off
i have this teacher that has her doctorate at hebrew literature
and she is an abomination to the field
the fact she had nothing better to do than 8 years of school mean nothing for her competence in the field
and again GP's have alot on their plate
try asking your doctor how he's doing next time
(i usually get a sigh in response)

Definitely not. I usually go home and start researching online the symptoms because I know what the dr. told me is incorrect. Always get a 2nd opinion.
Sometimes they don't listen either and they end up risking someones life. They didn't listen to a friend of mine a year ago that she found something (a lump), cause she was too young and they blew it off. Well turns out a year later she was diagnosed w/ stage 3 cancer. She tried to tell them. Sad.

Doctors are NEVER right because they do not study causes...they only treat symptoms. Read Death by Medicine...
http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2004/mar2004_awsi_death_01.htm
"...conventional medicine is "the leading cause of death" in the United States.
...Over 700,000 Americans die each year at the hands of government-sanctioned medicine, while the FDA and other government agencies pretend to protect the public by harassing those who offer safe alternatives."

If they were right all the time, it wouldn't be called "practicing" medicine. ;o) Seriously, no one can be right ALL the time; doctors are just as human and prone to err as anyone else ~ it's just that their errors are usually more drastic.
Like the other responder said, it's one of the main reasons we seek second, and sometimes, third, opinions.

Of course not. In fact, I would say they make mistakes about as often as you or I do. I've found my own doctors to be wrong quite a few times.

Not all doctors are right all of the time. That's why we have the right/obligation to seek second opinions.

Absolutely NOT...but they are only human too. Sometimes they go by what they see and we as the patient need to be more open on relaying information to the Dr. In the medical field...nothing is 100%
