For an Chicago couple in their 70's: want to see sights, learn history; haven't been to NYC since the 1960's; also recommend a good hotel

there are Soundwalk audio tours if you like of chinatown, or the meatpacking district, or little italy.

there's also a free walking tour about any neigborhood you want by a non profit group called big apple greeters. you jsut tell them what you want to see, do, and a volunteer shows up to show you around town, they also give you a free metrocard,

there are also the double decker sightseeing buses run by two bus comapnies like gray lines.

Comfort Inn.. Midtown - very clean, reasonable, non smoking, free breakfast

bus tour is easier for a older person
frond desk of Hotel can make recommendations


make sure they go to the Tenement museum
