I'm trying to decide which class to take at the local gym. I know kickboxing is more cardio and pilates is more strength & flexibility focused, but honestly ANY exercise would be good for me.

Right now I'm too busy to find time for much exercise, hopefully a class will be a good motivator. Please share your experience, positive or negative witheither of these. Thanks.

It depends; what would you like to see in a workout? You brought up good points about kickboxing being more cardio and pilates being more strength and flexibility ... Are you more of a patient or an impatient person? Pilates routines can get rather tedious, in my opinion. It's really slow and doesn't involve too much movement all at once. But it does garner good and noticeable results. I find that if you would like to release more stress with exercise, you should side with kickboxing; it's a good way to release anger. It's also very motivational.

I have never done pilates so I can't tell you much about it.
I can tell you that EVERY time I do kickboxing, I lose about 1 pound. You get quite a workout and sweat a lot. It is probably all water weight that I lose and I might even put it back on after I drink some water but your muscles tone up really fast. Kickboxing works & it is fun!

Pilates is a mix between Yoga, ballet, and gym... German art. It works the physical and mind also. Kickboxing is energic sport and martial art. It really makes you sweat. So if your intention is losing weight.... I Recomend Kickboxing!~ You are Thai, so i guess you'll be alright practicing the American Muay Thai ((But cannot hit with the knees)). Pilates is softer... you'll warm up with it, but won't really lose weight. About Aerobic... is a good choice also.... if you like it (¬¬)... it's perfect for growing your energy, flexibility...etc. (and for lose weight as well). So my recomend is: Kickboxing. Even!! It's between three of them, the most funny. You can hit your couple while you practice sport and work your body.

as a former amatuer boxer and a martial arts enthusiast, i say kickboxing. you're not just exercising, you're learning how to defend yourself. and if you actually want to compete in a circuit, the conditioning will be waaaaaayyyyyy more intense than pilates ever could be. and you will never find a better character-building program than what you will find in combat athletics. down side is.... you WILL get hit. even if you're just going to class to learn this stuff. but it's good for you. good for the soul. good luck

I don't know which burns more calories in the same amount of time or anything, but I think kickboxing would be more fun and more useful. At least after learning how to kickbox, you could defend yourself easily.

If you are busy then kickboxing is probably for you. It will be good to get all the aggression out after having a stressful week. Something about exhausting myself cardio-wise seems to help me forget what a busy and/or stressful week I've just had....but you are right, either one would be good.

Do your grocery shopping with a list and a moment limit; that way, you're more unlikely to stray into the highly processed foods section.

Decaf coffee is a good low-calorie fluid when you're having cravings (and a great source of antioxidants).
