I have done my research, more than you realize. But i do not have the space here to write down every piece of information i have come across over the years. I asked a simple question. I want to know why people believe on the bible. There are many other books that did not make it into the bible. Why?

Here's the answer. First, humans and the world had to come from somewhere. I'd rather believe there was a Creator than a Big Bang and everything fell into place. The Bible is a book written
by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit from God. They wrote down what God told them as He knew how we arrived here,
what happened next, about Jesus coming to earth for 33 years,
and the people that saw HIm ,were with Him, and saw Him die.
Then after performing miracles which actually happened, the big
miracle was His rising from the dead which no other so-called God can say happened to them. He has even told us how it will
all end throughout the Bible and at the end (Revelations). Every
thing in it so far has proved to be true, things that were prophesied
before they ever happened came true, and how it all ends will also
come true, whether you believe it or not doesn't matter. I believe
in the truth of the Bible, follow His teachings, and plan upon enter-
ing heaven when my life on this earth ends. I hope you will see the Light before you pass away also.

Do you know that there are people that believe everything you watch on soap operas to be the actual lives of those actors. You can't control what people believe, the reason there is so much controversy regarding the Bible is because many scriptures were left out, wars faught over what to include, and it is not chronologically correct.
It is the closest thing we have to man's history, and the history of God's chosen people he called Israel (not the country) there were 12 tribes of Israel. This is in the Old Testament, and what we have in the Bible is maybe an example of how our Father wanted his chosen people to live and honor Him and know that there was something greater here than we could see.
The New Testament is a testament to the works of God's only begotten Son, Jesus of Nazareth, conceived in immaculate conception for the purpose of enforcing the message from God of the good news of Salvation. He knew he had to suffer many tribulations and insults and so on before His work was completed here on earth.
As in any book the scriptures were edited, and/or left out altogether , this does not mean that there isn't any truth there. Many preach to us using examples from the written word and take it right out of context, if you continue to read what they are using as an example you will find this is the case more often then not.

I've wondered the same thing...
Suppose there is stuff wrong in there... how would anyone know? They don't.
I remember something I saw on the Discovery or History Channel that looked at some things written in there and they sound an awful lot like UFOs. It was passages that said stuff like "and they came down from the sky".
I'm not saying it definitely was UFOs, but it makes you wonder.
Things were described in the only way the people knew how to. There are all sorts of things that if you think about what is being described means something completely different than the meaning we have for it today.

Because there told to believe it all no matter what, says so in the "good book" (this is called a circular argument), they don't have any concept of rationally thinking through what's written.
Personally I completely agree with you, having read the bible, I don't see how anyone can say it is god breathed, and if it is, then god must be a pretty f'cked up person, some of the stuff thats written in the OT

I was raised in a standard Christian home and all of my Sunday school and catechism instruction taught us to never question the Bible or our religious teachers. If you doubted, you would end up on the path to ETERNAL HELL where all non-believers are supposedly going to end up.
That's scary stuff, and an effective form of brainwashing which enforces people to listen and follow and not question anything coming from authority figures. It took me two seconds to find the passage below on a Christian website.
2 Timothy 3:15-17, which says, “. . .from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." Christians are told countless times they will burn in hell if they loose their faith.
It's mean, wrong, and should be stopped, this form of brainwashing.

You know what, you're right. The bible was in fact written by man and HAS been screwed up in translation. Most people do not follow the book word for word anyways, so whatever works for people. It's always best to keep an open mind because a closed one cannot be taught anything.

Let me ask you this: If you're an electrician, are you going to dismiss some of the knowledge and laws you learned in school and put yourself at risk of dying? I don't think so. It is the same way with being a Christian. You don't play around with God. You believe it all.
The bible says this about God's Word:
2 Timothy 3
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness..."
If you don't believe what the Bible says, then one cannot become a Christian.
Tell me, can you become a lawyer if you don't believe what the books in school say? NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Jen, I want to tell you that I understand so much what you are saying. About ten years ago I started going to a bible teaching church. I hadn't really opened the bible much before then. I said the exact same thing to someone, that the bible was written by men. In the last ten years, I got into bible study, and over that period of time, that is how I came to believe the bible was what it claims to be: given by inspiration of God. No one forced me to believe that; no one said, you have to believe that. I came to believe it, through very diligent study, and seeing the words of God proven true all around me, and within me, and in my life.
My mother once said she thought the bible wasn't relevant to today. The church she went to rarely studied the bible, and I think that is why she said that. I think it you really took the time to read it, you would be astonished at what wisdom and plain speaking are in there. I hope you take the opportunity to look into it a little more thoroughly.
Cordially,
