Yes. The human race is most probably living on borrowed time. Animal & human populations expand when there is sufficient food & energy resources around to feed a growing population. This is sustainable when the energy comes from renewable sources, and where such a mechanism does not unduly disrupt the ecosystem that allow for this type of environment. It is unsustainable where the energy demands exceed the ability of the ecosystem to provide this growth indefinitely. The human population can use fossil fuel energy and the earth's finite resources to temporarily expand, however just like using a credit card eventually you have to pay for everything that has been bought. For example, cutting down the amazon rain forest will in the short term benefit the farmers, and allow them to buy more food for their families thus allowing them to have bigger familiies, However eventually when the forests are gone, the carbon sink it provides will have disappeared meaning big problems for the global environment.

Yes, the world is dying. In several million years, it will be nothing but a cold stone with no life on it at all. Will it be dead any time soon? No. As you point out, the population is expanding. I have read where the world can handle about 30 billion people, and that is a lot more than we have now. While the world isn't as clean as it may have been thousands of years ago, it isn't dying. As we become even more tech savy, we will develop cleaner ways to run the world, and eventually pollution will not be such a big news item. And the world will still be alive.

the "world" isn't alive, and even if you want to consider the ecosphere (or living part of the world), it could be dying as a whole even when human population is growing (because lots of other things could be dying out faster than humans were borning in)

that said, the world, or the ecosystem, shows no sign of dying

some creatures are doing better than ever these days (like people and deer and rats and cows and pine trees) and other creatures are doing worse

in the worst disaster scenarios that alarmists come up with nobody thinks life on earth is threatened, just possibly human life, or human quality of life

The world is not dying. It is A ok. Global warming won't have a big effect on the earth, maybe for its inhabitants, but not the planet itself. The planet has gone through major changes probably numerous times.
Even with nuclear bombs, global warming etc. The earth would be like a wet dog shaking its tale dry.
The human population is growing, but I don't think by much. Much of Europe is depopulating. Many towns are losing people because the birth rates are down. In China, the people are only alowed to have 1 child, that is slowing their growth.
Muslims are still having lots of children. You will see Muslims with a higher percentage of the population than they are now in 25 years. Good or bad depending upon your perspective.

The world is dying anyway, but we're acceleratin it by the pollution etc. Because of the hole in the ozone layer, the result on the weather etc is showing that things are changing. Look at the weather charts from 1900 onwards and you'll see it.
Don't worry though, it'll be well past our current lifetime, it won't be like the film The day after tomorrow!

Man is probably viewed as most dreadful animal by all other creatures. To each and most of the animals man is considered to be the other name of death. Everything is at the mercy of man becouse whatever is touched by his hands become lifeless with in no time. Man is at the top of the natural food chain which is being eroded with each progression of human civilisation. Now they must be busy in inventing ways and means to extract nutritious capsules directly from rocks and stones. The invention may bring an end to starvation and greenery from earth. The life will be bottled in oxygen kits. Man's world is not dying but surviving at its endangered shaking base.

Of course the World is dying. It might take another 6 billion years or so. So are we even though we don't like to think about it!

But doctors and health scientists say that babies born today may, with all the medical advances, live to be 175 or 200 years old! Yeah! That's all we need –– another 150 year old driver on the road ! ! !

yes it is...i believe the reason is the human population is expanding so much and so fast. many cultures refuse to practice birth control, and many are ignorant of birth control.

as a race we are greedy and ignorant, using up all the natural resources, and we are so arrogant that we refuse to see our faults.

my little family does recycle; we limit our use of vehicles, conserve energy at home, do as much as we can to limit our impact on the world, but there aren't enough of us doing this. we live in a home appropriate to the size of our family but look around and you will see these monster houses being built to satisfy people's need to look important and affluent.
is there a house in your neighborhood without a swimming pool? most upper class homes seem to have pools, hot tubs, saunas. all to satisfy their need to show their importance to the world.
are we killing the world? oh yeah......

Yes. it´s dying since the moment it was formed.
Life Will disappear in millions and the planet will disintegrate in a few billion years.
Mas, just a very small part of its living creatures will not last has long, for sure.

Only to the extent that the universe and everything will die eventually. We may be entering a state of flux where something has to give. Possibly, great change may be due. But as a planet, the Earth is still healthy. Mankind, in his present destructive form, may not be part of that health to any noticeable degree.
