Umm... you are doing it WRONG.

You need to start SMALL.

Little weights.

Work it up...

Starting with LARGE weights will destroy your arms/muscles...

Also, Pecs are in your CHEST...

You want to bench press for that, which means you also want to start small on that, and work your way up.

It depends on your size. Your barbell probably weighs 45 pounds. So you are talking about 95 pounds.

See how much weight you can press 10 times, where it is challenging but not easy or hard. When you identify that as your starting weight, use that as the first set. Do 4 more sets. each set, at 5 more pounds to each side, but do 2 less repetitions. For example:

10 reps x 95 pounds
8 reps x 105 pounds
6 reps x 115 pounds
etc.
