For all you who think that these people should be slowly dissolved in a vat of acid or something of the sort, how do you feel about women who abort their babies? Do you think that they should have a hole drilled into their brain and then be broken into pieces and sucked through a small hole by a powerful vaccuum, enduring every painful second until their life is over? I'll bet not.
Yes, animal cruelty is inexcusable, but to think it would be cured by the perp receiving equal treatment is foolhardy. Animals and people do not have equal standing in nature, and unless this country is even more twisted than I think, this idea will never come close to reality. Thank goodness.
But I wouldn't put it past today's brave Democratic leaders to try it.

Really you need to get a reality check.
They are just animals!
I'm not saying that ppl who hurt animals shouldn't be punished but lets get real! they should never be able own an animal ever again.
I'm saying this because there are real problems in society like why a pedophile gets out of jail after almost not time served.
I mean before we start torturing ppl for hurting animals let get them for hurting other humans.
Really get your priorities straight. No matter what you thing we are better then animals and by that i mean pets.

No, but they should get a custodial sentance and some form of councelling and be reassessed before release.
There is a link between a person who is cruel to animals and that person being cruel to other humans as well.
It would be nice to treat them how they treated the animal but we ahev to be better than they are.

They should get a significant punishment, not just a fine or probation either, jail time. I knew of a lady that was punishing her dog by tying him to the back of her bumper and drove down a dirt road and skinned him to death. These people are sick and cruel and as far as I am concerned are capable of harming humans if they treat animals this way. So they should be locked up in a mental institution or jail time FOR SURE! I'm with you! It's really sad. : (

There are strict laws about cruelty to animals. People who mistreat animals deserve to be punished by the law, and will be if caught. Some people have received long prison terms for cruelty to animals.

no i think only people who torture animals for their amusement should go to jail but not get killed. and hate to break it to ya but would some lamb have grown up to be the president of the united states if some farmer hadn't killed it for food? it is human nature to eat animals just like it is for bears to eat fish. maybe processed food is wrong but hunting should be acceptable.

Yes they should be treated that way, but there would be no way to prove or be able to catch every person that abuses animals.

They need help.........they are acting out on helpless critters.....so i think the best solution is confinement and counselling.....if that does not work at least lifetime supervision or some kind of monitoring....killing the ill is no solution

I agree with you. They should be given the same punishment as they did to the animals, for example if they beat their dog and then left him to die, then they would get beaten and left to die.
I think people would stop hurting animals if that was the penalty. I also think this might be a good penalty for people that hurt children. Anyone that hurts the innocent deserves to rot in hell.

No, because by definition they are animals too, and that would be animal cruelty.
