Who is upset about it? If you mean the survivors... well it is natural to want to hold on to those we love.

Because we are human. And humans, although we try to follow the teachings of Christ, are not perfect.

with the promise of salvation through Christ, we should not fear death. Yet we do. We fear the unknown, the loss of life. I think of it this way. We are in this world for so many, many years. We have experienced so many things: love, hate, sadness, happiness, excitement. We become accustomed to the world and the experiences it has. But then all of that to all of a sudden, come to a screeching halt. Who wouldn't be scared. It's instinct.

Even Billy Graham and the Pope, when faced with a life threatening situation, are scared of death.

For some, maybe its because they are afraid that they have not atoned for all of their sins.

but then, there are others that seem to not be afraid. Those that have lived life for all that they could. My grandmother, who recently celebrated her 79th birthday, suffered a stroke some time ago. She told me, that if it was her time to die, she is not afraid, and she will enter heaven.

But maybe it is because we just fear death. We know there is an afterlife, and that we will go there after we die. We are just afraid of the process that we all must take. Afraid for what our loved ones will do after we are gone. how they will manage.

I may be right, I may be wrong. But perhaps this is a question that will ultimately be answered, in the hereafter.

Even if you believe in an afterlife, you still havn't seen the afterlife and cannot fully comprehend it. You just lost someone you care about deeply, and don't get to see them again until you pass on. The grieving for those who believe in an afterlife is more of a self-centered grieving. It would be a more extreme version of your friend moving to a different country where you could never see or contact them again. It would still be upseting.

Just because one believes in the afterlife does not mean they are ready to go there. For example, I have children to raise and still contribute financially to the family. Plus I have several things I would like to do and see, such as see grandchildren born and raised, etc...

Though we believe in the afterlife, we still have loved ones here, for example, I damn sure don't want to die and leave my kids (11 & 12) without a mom. I know there are people here to tske csre of them, but , it wont be ME, it wont be their mom, wont be the same. And a lot of it is people just feel sorry for their loss. they don't think about it as they've gone on to be in Heaven, they just think that they have lost someone.

Because death is unnatural. We grieve over those who had died just as we would if they were to go on a long trip and we would never see them again. Death means death of this body, believer and non-believer continue to live. The difference is where we will spend eternity.

because of the fact that we are not going to get to be with the person again on this side of eternity. It hurts when you meet your soulmate, marry and then he dies. A part of me is missing now, because he is gone. My husband was my best friend, there was nothing that I couldn't talk to him about and he loved me faults and all...now can you see why people are upset about loved ones dying?

Selfish in a way yes, but human all the same.

You might still feel you'd left things undone here. Or that you regret how your loved ones are going to grieve. It's not easy to imagine just saying goodbye calmly, but I hope to do so when the time comes. I just want it to come a long, long time from now. I've still got lots of things to do.

I'm not upset about death, because I believe in the 2nd coming of Jesus... and I believe in the Resurrection.

I think it's more the dieing process that people get upset about, not death itself. No-one wants to suffer before dieing and it's horrible watching someone else do it.

Not if the afterlife has a quiet pub with snooker and Guinness.
