Anxiety is something I've always had to fight with. It has helped me to expose myself to new situations that trigger anxiety attacks. When I get used to the new situation, I find that I am usually OK with it.
You might look into herbal remedies (available at health food stores).
Aromatherapy has also helped me to be calmer and more relaxed.
It also might be a good idea to talk with a therapist. Mental health services are usually available at reduced cost in clinics in most communities.
Hope this helps!

I too deal with anxiety on a daily basis. Depending on the situation, it occurs in groups of people I don't know well, if I have to give a speech (getting better over time), or even driving (had a bad collision and am now scared when it rains). I think repetition helps the issue over time, as you gradually become more comfortable. However, if you feel that you really need the drugs, by no means let anyone make you feel bad about it. I just picked up something more natural at a health store called 'Gaba Calm', but I have yet to try it out. A supportive friend, partner, girlfriend/boyfriend helps as well. They can be there to talk to you, calm you down and tell you you're okay. Trust me though, I understand what you're going through. Sometimes I just want to wish it away. Just remember that you're not alone in this. =)

I have extremely bad social anxiety around people I don't know or people that I just meet and haven't gotten to know that well yet.
Try focusing on an object and not yourself. For most people that suffer from anxiety, they are the worst listeners because they are so focused on what is causing the anxiety, for example a shy person is focused on the judgement that other people might be making of them which is what is causing their anxiety, they are not even paying attention or listening to what is going on around them or what the other person is saying. Try focusing on an object, rub your arm, put your hand on a chair, pick something up and twiddle it in your hands. It sounds crazy but it actually works, because your mind then isn't wandering and making your anxiety even worse. Try it. Hoped I helped.

I have anxiety attacks (rarely now) and went to the doctor. Part of my problem was physical (low thyroid) and medicine corrected that. The other part required professional help.
Are you in a general state of anxiety or are there specific "triggers" that make you anxious (i.e., taking a test)? Have you recently been through a traumatic event? These are a few questions you may want to ask yourself. Best wishes.

See a pyshologist for some good talk therapy to help find the cause of the anxiety attack. Most of the time you can learn ways of relaxing. If he/she thinks it is the effect of a different disorder, they can refer you to your family doctor or a psychiatrist for medication.
For the time being, try removing yourself from the situation you are in, concentrate on breathing slowly and deeply until you feel relaxed.

remember that anxiety is the fear of what might happen, but when all is said and done, usually doesnt.. it is a big game of "what if"? what if this happens or what if that happens? the best way is not to dwell on the problem.. exercise is a good way to work out some of those demons.. there are also a plethora of drugs out there.. the ones that i have taken are buspar, clonidine, and hydroxyzine.. all of them worked fairly well for me, with the only side effect being some amount of drowsyness from the hydroxyzine..
welcome to the club.. if you get your dues paid in full, we will send you a nice patch to sew on your jacket, a membership card, and the instructions for the secret handshake..
good luck!!

I take anxiety one day at a time. If you're having a hard problem with it talk to your doctor about taking anxiety medication. Maybe have someone to talk to like a phychologist or a thyrapist or maybe a best friend to talk to might help you.

i also am prone to anxiety. every body and mind is different, so methods will vary. i like exercise and try my best to eat right. By fish oils(omega 3s) and put more protein into your diet. Stay away from sugars or excess fats. sounds like a diet routine, but it works better for me. I also just quit smoking as well, and have taken up this new regimen
