There can be three major reasons. Most of the answers you would get here would point to insecurity - that is the most likely reason anyway. The guy could be full of himself and needs to pamper his ego a bit further - that could be the the second most probable reason.
But --- the guy could be in love with the girl and desiring to know if he is really catering to her needs or not. He could be curious to understand how to please her. Its okay for her to tell him what she would prefer "more than he is already striving". If he does try, he really loves her (or close). If he doesn't, he would leave and she is already looking for a better one. There is no point in retaining insecure guys unless you have overly paternal instincts for lovers ;)
Girls should be optimistic at least for a while before jumping to conclusions ..... cheers :)

He's very insecure about his sexuality if he asks that question,
You handle it with elegance and grace, telling him, no one compares to your present lover, and that is after all, why you are with him! Tell him he is the Adonis or something, not in the same conversation. Build up his self esteem and you will be HIS BEST LOVER.

It probably means that he is very insecure and jealous!! If you answer a question like that, you are setting yourself up for his anger and pouting. Just smile sweetly and tell him, "the past is the past"!!
Take it from one who's been there, and lots of luck!!

If he asks, that means he's insecure.
If you don't know what it means when he asks, it means you don't know much about people in general, or him in particular.
If neither of you realize that "doing it" has nothing to do with better or worse, but with whom, then it means that you are both WAY too immature to be doing it.

It's an ego thing- a chance to bolster one's ego with a favourable comparison to another man- not necessarily insecurity.

Yeah...looking at your past is a bad sign. He really shouldn't be hung up on it. That could affect your future. Wish you the best on that one

He is probably unsecure and needs to be told he is good. Or either he has a huge head and thinks he is good and just wants to hear it to boost his self-esteem even more.

Is this a career question from a prostitute?
You shouldn't be "doing it." Yuck. How absolutely un-becoming.
