Canned mackerel is best eaten cold. Some people likes it cold on a hot rice. Warming a canned fish makes it taste too stringy.

You push the other cats away from the plate, growling and hissing, and gobble it down before they can nose in on you.
Oh, sorry. The humans in this family only eat mackerel raw and wriggling, in thin slices on top of a thumb-sized portion of lightly vinegared rice. Or, on occasion, lightly salted and broiled over an open fire.
Canned fish is only suitable for our family members who have retractable claws, vertical pupils, and who can purr. THEY love it, though.

Personally, I bait a trap with the stuff and use it to catch something that I might actually want to eat.

open the can and eat it. they are already cooked, like sardines.
