The first thing is to realize that you are doing this for him. In all likelihood, he is not particularly jubilant about walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, etc. To really get his attention and make him appreciate you on a new level, you have to do something *he* will like. Only you can determine what that is, either through watching him, asking him, asking others that know him, etc., but I hope there are already a few things that you have in mind. The best way to find out what he likes if you don't already know, is to see what gets him happily excited; what will he not shut up about?

Well you sound very sweet. Just be careful that you do not ‘set a precedent.’ Men are not usually as impressed by specially things as women are. Let him do the spending and the pampering of you. It is not to tell you to ‘take’ but to tell you that this is actually healthier for them. They like that powerful feeling, and don’t want to be ‘paid back’ unless they are selfish and miserly. He already knows you are grateful, so keep you gift simple and never treat him like you owe him. He is not your gigolo. Unless you can buy him a Ferrari don’t upset the balance!
Although I don’t like dirty answers, a hot evening with you in some lace might just be very special to him. Nothing kinky or degrading, but something full of passion for sure. Show him that wild sex doesn’t have to be all about ‘now let’s try this…’ Men like their ‘women.’ Let him enjoy you, in a way that is natural, and spicy at the same time, with a cute reminder of the evening. A picture of you dressed sexy, but not porno ish. Maybe showing a bit of that new lacy thing…. Lady-like.
Not feminist, but real.

just a thought but how bout a surprise visit to see his family if he has not been there for a long time or take him to somplace that he has been wanting to go to but never seems to get the chance. You would have to have been listining to him as I bet at some point he said something like " I always wanted to go to ........" So think back and see what you come up with.

Well it would help more to know where you were from. but, think about what his interests are and share them for that day. If it's sports, take him to a game, if it's music, maybe find a concert that he'd like, if it's not on the same day as his b-day, then present the tickets on it, and find something not so over-the-top to do on that day.
ME? My interests are cooking and travel. So my dream over-the-top present would be to take a trip together somewhere and learn the cusine of the region there. Hmm maybe Tuscany.....lol

Make a date with him.... have a Limo show up. The driver will tell him that he/she is there to take him to his date...
You are at a wonderful restaurant awaiting his arrival. You give him flowers and have the violinist play music to him... after dinner you walk out of the restaurant and there is a horse drawn carriage waiting for you....
It takes you to a club that is a bit quieter and plays music for couples to dance to holding each other....
Then tell him...you love him...

I got a newsflash for you, guys are sex-orientated. You shouldn't limit your ideas away from sex, us guys love sex and think about it constantly. But if you're limiting yourself and want to do something, bake him his favorite dessert or something. If that's not "special" enough, consider opening up your mind to some special sexual things he would enjoy....
