I'm a fighter. I hate to look weak in front of anybody and I do my best to hold tears back when the pain is excruciating or, at least, I try to hide them.
But I don't always manage: especially sharp and sudden pain (like a bad sprain) is very difficult to bear and sometimes, in spite of my efforts, I can't help tears.
Instead, if the pain is somehow expected, no metter how bad it is (like kidney stones), I'll never cry.
What about you? Are you a fighter as well? What kind of pain might bring tears on your eyes?

Thanks for your answers

(If memory serves me correctly) Charlie Brown once advised Linus Van Pelt to scream, "I'm a mighty pirate." Linus was due to receive a shot from the doctor and was worried about the pain he would feel.

I tend to swear a lot, enough to make the saltiest of salty pirates blush, cursing any and every deity. When the better part of discretion demands, I simply tense every muscle in my body until the pain subsides.

Seeing people suffering immeasurable misery, especially when due to circumstances largely beyond their control, sometimes brings a tear to an eye. I hate to see other people suffer.

Yes, I'm a fighter as well and, in spite of the many injures I got during my career as a professional basket player, I always managed to hold back the tears.

Only once I didn't succeed: when recently I broke my foot. That pain was simply too much...

No. I am anything BUT a fighter. But pain has to be PRETTY bad to bring tears to my eyes! I am more likely to cry over emotional things than physical.

yes, I do, some of it is out of pride, but mostly its because if I concentrate on not crying, I don't feel the pain as much.
I don't think I"m on the verge of tears unless i'm really really angry or sad. Its emotional pain, not physical pain, that brings me to tears.
And yah, I'm not embarassed to say I cry, infact I warn peole that I can be really emotional. I don't think that I've gotten hurt that bad before, unless i was little, but then kids will cry at the slightest thing to get attention.

I have been involved in martial arts for many years and had several very bad injuries. It always brings tears to my eyes. Same thing if I smash my finger with a hammer. It is not "crying" and is simply one of the bodies many automatic responses to pain. Don't worry about it and if anyone calls you a crybaby just kick their butts.

Yea, physical pain may bring tears to my eyes. Not often though. I can fight it pretty well. I never cry emotionally anymore. I can just push the pain inside away and not cry.
