In my P.E. class our coach makes girls do normal guy push-ups and he doesn't allow the girls to do the "girl" push-ups, which are the ones in which the girls do the push ups with their knees bent. I wanna know if there's any chance that I'm hurting myself by doing push-ups that are really meant for guys in my P.E. class.

I'm not lazy at all!!! In fact I have very good endurance when I am doing the push-ups. I'm just scared that I might be hurting myself, that's all. Thanks to everyone for answering!!!

yes and no,
there is no higher chance for a girl to be injured doing guy push-ups than there is for a guy doing them, however, there is an injury risk for both guys and girls if you go to fast, you can blow out your shoulder ( i know someone who this happened to)

the reason that they have girl push ups is that guys have more upper body strength and are able to do push ups the regular way for more reps and faster. nothing says you cant do it but you honestly. but its basically so that girls can do the same number with out feeling left behind when they cant.

There are no such thing as "guy" or "girl" push-ups. There are just push-ups or half push-ups. There is no harm in girls doing regular push ups. It will help you develop more muscle strength, which everyone needs.

no of course not. "girl" push-ups really aren't a workout, push-ups are push-ups no matter who does them, you do the "girl" ones, and you might as well not even bother doing them at all

excersise of anykind is not bad... the only thing you should worry about is that if you too much of a chest workout .. you will gain a chest and not the girl kind... you will start loosing boobs and gain muscle which is good for you! just do it in moderation not overexcessively!!!

No, a pushup is a pushup. Bending the knees just makes them easier.

Nope, just don't hurt yourself while doing it. It doesn't make a difference, it only makes you stronger.
