Just look at history. A long time ago, there was no law of the land. There were also no answers to why things like fire and water worked. So they created religion to solve all of that. Now that we know such things and have police, we no longer need religion. If you think about it, most wars are caused by religion. So the sooner we get rid of it, the better!!!

Check out the most popular options: Christian God (Jesus), Islamic God (Allah), etc. For me, the answer is simple, because there is only one God who claims to offer complete redemption from sin, eternal life, the certain way to heaven, the love of a Father towards adopted children who don't deserve it . . . that would be the Christian God as revealed in Jesus Christ. Other religions/gods don't have the same level of hope, so you worship, pray, and do good works, but are never 100% sure that you'll have eternal life. Jesus offers a 100% sure way. But don't take my word for it. Read the Bible.

Learn what you can about each from a qualified educator from that faith.

Don't be taken in by threats of eternal damnation if you don't believe exactly as someone says they do. Those who would hammer a faith down your throat are typically immature in their own faith and need room/time to grow. (See above.)

Listen with your head and your heart. What's right for you will resonate; what's not, won't. It's like falling in love: there's no formula, there's no one-size-fits-all solution, there's no one else who can tell you what's right for you. You'll just know.

Research. Prayer. Go with what makes your heart float. There is no easy answer. They are all valid, despite their many problems. They are all a path to take toward understanding a greater mystery. Even NOT chosing one of them but just believing in a God who acts a certain way is fine. There is no pressure to join a cult... no matter what the trappings are or how popular it is or how mainstream it is.. It is a private matter between you, your belief and what you think
God is or is not.

To the law and to the testimony! If they speak not according to this word(word of God), it is because there is no light in them.Isaiah 8:20, 19. And when they say to you,"Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter.: Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living"
John 5:39: "You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me."
Ephesians 4:4,5,6: There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling: One Lord, one faith, one baptism: one God and Father of all who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

First off there is only one God-period. Follow me a second...All the rest are gods - they are no different from "the god of your stomach" or "the god of serving self" or "the god who is your lover" or "the god of a stone that was made into a bird". There is only one God. Who do you serve?
We were built with a hollow section in our heart that only God can fill. We often times search for other gods to fulfill that hollow section, but its still void. There is only one God. The God who is Holy. The one God that created earth. The God who sent His only son to replace our punishment. The God who tuggs your heart right now.
How do I know that I chose the REAL God? How do I know that I have the right faith. My God is real to me. My God is real to me. He isn't distant. He isn't far. He talks to me. He answers me. He is always leading me. NO OTHER GOD does that for me.
I found Him by surrending all under no expectations other than He show Himself to me. I said, "I surrender...IF YOU'RE REAL AND YOU'RE REAL FOR ME - PROVE IT!!!!" And He did and every since He has been VERY VERY real to me. From that day a veil has been lifted from my eyes.
I laugh at the very thought that God "HAS TO be proven". He has he made it very evident that He is real through His creation; however, a person cannot know him personally without exercising FAITH. Thats stepping forward without proof - hence I surrendered.... He does; He will.

There are not 100's of options.
There are 2.
God's and Satan's.
Satan, being deceptive, provides 100's of faces of the same deal.
How to know God's way?
There is criteria.
One could take the Lord's prayer.
Hallowed be thy name .......who is making known god's name and revering it?
Your kingdom come.
Who is pointing toward God's kingdom as the real solution to matters?
Your will be done on earth.
Who is having anything to say about God and the earth's future?
Who could be living up to John 13:34,35?

To me, all gods are different aspects of one divine spirit and they are all valid ways to communicate with that spirit. Chose one or many depending on the need. All deities in the ancient pantheons have correspondences. Aphrodite for love and Athena for strategy, and so on. Do research into the deity's mythology and let that guide you when you have a certain need.

Another option is to choose one deity to whom you take all your needs. Again, do research and find the one that is right for you.

16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

No one knows for sure...go with what you feel is right, not what others tell you is right. Do some research, read Bible, Qu'ran, Torah etc, find out from real people what its like to follow that particular religion and decide what best suits you and your life. You will learn a lot about yourself if you do this.
