Is it a city? I've been to Thurso and Wick. But John O' Groats is a small village, I think.
Anyway, the most northerly village on the mainland of Great Britain is it.

Yes, near to Thurso where you can catch a ferry to the Orkney Isles and try Highland Park whisky

The John O'Groats hotel has a huge collection of scotch whisky at up to £200 a measure - try something more within your budget!

A bit "touristy"! - but not as terrible as Lands End!

I have to say that there are more attractive places in Scotland. It is to touristy for me, making far to much of being the most north easterly point of mainland Britain.

Really the only reason to go there is if you have travelled from Lands End.

I've been there, stayed at the hostel, took the ferry to the Orkneys which were stunning.
