I think you are absolutely right. War goes back to the beginning of time and clearly it does not work so I think we need to go to Plan B and do the opposite. However, world peace begins within the individual. Before we can change the human condition we must first change ourselves. It is often easy to rally around a cause. It is far more difficult to look in the mirror and begin the work of inner transformation. All that we are eye witness to is but a mirror image reflecting the remains of evil that lay hidden and undetected in our own hearts. World peace begins with peace in your own heart.

Yes we'll never know whether it may work...but the chances are even higher that it will not work, because in case you did not know...these terrorists are out to create an evil Empire and they hate anyone who is not like them no matter what you do.
And by the way...by the time they get tired blowing us up and beheading us...we'll already be dead. Sorry but I have no intention of giving these filthy terrorists that satisfaction...
Maybe you should try and hug them...I'll keep my distance (a good 1 mile away)...tell us if it works later (if you are still alive).

yeah, ok go and try to hug a terrorist, he'll only blow you up w/ himself in the process. I dont get how people think that diplomacy will work when the enemy is an enemy that would rather DIE than live! This isn't conventional warfare where the mutual goal is survival. Our enemy in this war is looking forward to dying, looking forward to martyrdom. How do you talk a person out of killing himself if he's sold on religious reasons to do so? You dont! Diplomacy w/ terrorists was the approach Clinton used, and it was only interpreted as weakness by the Islamic culture, and ultimately lead to 9/11.

Fine. Go to the middle east and find an Al-Qeada representative and walk up to him and give him a hug. How long do you think it would take for your beheading to be on the internet? They don't need hugs, they need a bullet. All they want is us dead. So much so they will even have children just to send them out with a bomb strapped to them.

Well, theories are great until a suicide bomber hugs you while you are boarding a bus....that would be quite a hug.
The war on terror will never be won with bombs. It will be impacted by precise intelligence and covert military operations. It requires a different mind set. We need to develop more a police work mind set and greatly upgrade our SWAT capabilities.
We need to change our entire mindset.

Sorry, don't have an answer to your statement other than a little laughter. Hugs are great until it is accompanied by an IED strapped to the other guys chest.

Nice dream. But unfortunately the Islamic radicals wouldn't hug you back without a knife in their hands. Besides they stink of camel dung and poor hygene.
