Most people think that they should because minors can get cigarettes from older people legally so easily anyway. Personally though... I think smoking should be banned

Absolutely not! Smoking is a filthsome habit that destroys your lungs, makes you smell like crap, gives you a dingy appearance, AND endangers those around you.

I started smoking when i was 13, i used to get older guys to buy them for me. I'm 27 and I just quit a month ago! But it really doesn't matter what the legal age is because nobody does anything about the underage people who are smoking anyway. we really need to get our stuff together and teach kids from a young age that smoking is not cool and do everything we can to make sure they don't start. It's so not worth it!

No I do not think that the smoking age should be lowerd to 16 becasue parents already dont want theere kids to smoke but since there is a law they dont have to worry about it as much but if thwere wasnt a law for 16 year olds then you might as well kill them because the younger they are when they smoke the bigger the percentiage that they will smoke latter is alot higher chance and that will kill them. Just smoking once realy ruins the insides of your boddy. A friend of mine died of smoking cause he couldnt stop and it finnaly got to him and he died.

Probably not – it is a life threatening habit. I believe that is has been shown that the longer people delay starting the more likely they’ll never start. At 16 you’re not an adult & therefore in this case I think it’s ok for the government to try to protect you.
I started at 12 but was lucky in always being able to stop whenever I wanted & haven’t smoked in over 20 years.

It should not be banned, look back to prohibition...did not work, but lowering the age... no, as a smoker fo 30 years, I can vouch for the serious side-effects...copd.... I tried cutting some limbs today off a tree... got so out of breath, I had to come in and rest... it sucks big time, really sucks.... oxygen is next, so don't even pick one up, cause the last one is the hardest thing to put down.

The legal smoking age is 16. It shouldn't be lowered because at that age, people are still making choices which may not be the best for them.

Leave the age alone. Alcohol is provided to minors this way and the ones who provide it also face legal action!
Tobacco is legal, so it can not be easily outlawed. The best you can do is to make it socially unacceptable.

no way. i say raise the age to 21 like gambling because that is what you are doing with your health when you smoke , also I am an ex smoker and know how hard it is to quit.

you can smoke from 16 where i live (northern ireland) anyway but at the minute the goverment is trying to raise it to 18...

i think it dhould be banned, well no, then there would just be a black market for them, and i would be smoking shitty quality cigs. Just raise the price to about 10 dollars a pack, i would quit then
