I try to get at least 6 hours a night, even though, most of the time I get 7 to 8 hours of sleep.
I am in my early thirdies and I find I need a lot more sleep then I use to. Otherwise, I feel like I am drunk and can't really concentrate that well.
Never the less, I do have nights where I have trouble sleeping, in that case, I try to read something - while I am still in bed. I give it maximum 30 minutes and I am knoecked out. If that doesn't work, I find that if you get up and watch a littl TV, it helps to sleep.
The experts say that if you can not sleep, one of the worst things you can do is stay in bed, because you will only be "thinking" about falling to sleep and then, it will take you longer.

I'm one of those people that needs 8 hours sleep. I'm 38 now, and when I was younger I needed very little sleep. I don't think I'm old. Yet, I find that as I've gotten older. I need a full 8 hours. When I get the full 8 hours, I feel energetic and I can be more alert. When I haven't been able to sleep, I tend to read a great deal. Or I'll watch an Interior design show on the Fine Living Channel. I sometimes have a cup of green tea. From time to time, I do need to take something for it. I sometimes take alluna Sleep. It's none habit forming. I'm also considering contacting my doctor about Ambien CR. I'm not sure about it yet. I'm doing my own research. I hope this helps?

I sleep for 6- 8 hours every day... if i cant sleep, i curse myself and say in my head, "okay, Brain, if you want to stay awake, then stay awake. I bet you'll be tired a quarter of the way through the day, you stupid bastard." Then, I get up and read or go on the internet. LOL... then, I'll usually sleep like a rock the next day.

I need at least 5 a night. A lot has to do with what you eat or drink before you go to bed. Don"t drink soda or eat spicy food before bed. I like to have light jazz on the radio while I sleep.

I average about five hours a day. I have trouble sleeping because of my job. But I sometimes come here to unwind before I go off to bed.

i usually sleep for 6-9 hrs. per night. if i'm not able to get right to sleep, i'll watch t.v., read a book, or go on-line until i begin to feel drowsy. i do not take any medications for sleep as i fear their addictive side effect.
p.s. on those rare nights when both my wife and i can't sleep----sex is the name of the cure. all the energy is expended, as well as any built up stress and anxiety. after intercourse sleep usually occurs within 5-10 minutes----ALWAYS.

I get three to four hours of sleep a night. I don't do anything to help me fall asleep. I only go to bed when I'm sleepy.
