It doesn't, if you are drinking something with a harsh taste like whiskey, or rum it helps you drink faster, and easier by bypassing most of the taste buds on your tongue.

Drinking alcohol through a straw used to get me drunk quicker when I was about 18 years old and drinking with people of a similiar age but know I've grown up and developed common sense I've realised it's an old wives tale and funnily enough it doesn't get me drunk quicker anymore !!!!!

Ok. the alcohol is the same not like the Stupid anser or Mr. Ashrez. Come on man think about ii. The alcohol comes more concentrated in a straw than if you drink it normally??? hahaha. Miss Princess s is correct. it's all due the oxygen and also due the speed that you drink.

The act of drinking it through the straw does NOT make you get drunk faster. It is the fact that you are drinking more faster that makes you get drunker faster. Alcohol intoxication is caused by the amount of alcohol you consume compared to your body weight. How you drink it doesn't matter.

Only the case in mixed drinks or cocktails. The alcohol has a tendency to go to the bottom, being a different density than water. Using a straw gets at it better. Which is why you get a little stirring stick with some of these same drinks, to distribute the alcohol.

It doesn't. It's the same amount of alcohol in your system if you drink through a straw or a mug or right out of the bottle. The ingestion method doesn't matter.

It doesn't.

In someways it allows you to drink faster allowing you to consume a higher quantity of alcohol in a shorter period of time. It's the increased consumption which gets you 'drunker' quicker.

The straw does nothing but speed up the process of consumption, it doesn't increase concentration, potency or anything else.

You get less oxygen to your brain when drinking through a straw, when you drink from a glass, you take in air cos your mouth opens.

The alcohol gets into your system quicker because you are not swallowing properly. So if you want to get smashed, straw it!
