Being gay can't be a sin, if the Almighty god is supposed to love all creatures.
The way that humans have manipulated the word of god for their own means has caused more problems than anything else in history.
If you are a religious person and are worried about your love for another human being causing you problems, then you need to decide what is more important the religion (as designed by man) or your true feelings (which won't go away and should be allowed to thrive if they are pure).
In my opinion the whole religion thing is skewed too much and deviated too far from the truth, that being god loves ALL creations equally, regardless of what any book or religious person says.
If god didn't love you because you were gay then that would prove god as being a dishonest being and then what's the point in looking up to a god in the first place if even that god can't overlook prejudices.

Being gay is NOT a sin, but it depends on the culture you grew up in and what YOU believe in, not because the Bible says it. Religions were created to mandate structure. They are basically rules to keep things in order. Rules aren't always right. For example, the KKK made rules to hate African Americans or anyone else that isn't Caucasian. Does that make it right? NO. That is an extreme analogy, but doesn't it make sense? Do what YOU, YOURSELF feels right, and not who or what says. Using the whole, "because-God-says-so" is starting to be a cliche. Obviously someone who uses that excuse can't think for themselves and that they have to outsource their answers to something or someone else because they don't know what they are talking about.
If you are gay, so be it.

A few have actually quoted scripture here. If you read it, please do so carefully...
You will discover that loving somebody of the same gender in itself is not a sin. The act of engaging in homosexual sex is a sin, though, but no more so than mere lust, adultery, or sex out of marriage entirely.
Essentially, you can long to be with members of the same sex, and that is not a sin, but physically/sexually acting out on it is.
Sort of a paradox, like some marijuana laws (smoking vs possession)...!

That depends on what you believe. If you believe in any organized religions, their teachings say yes. If you believe the bible is the word of God, then yes.
My personal opinion is "no".
But, I no longer participate in any organized religion so that's just how I feel about it.

No in my opinion being gay is not a sin, even in the eyes of the church it is only a sin if you act sexually with a partner.

"Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America."

Yes, it is an abomination. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. It is possible for a person who is gay to break free from the lifestyle (having/thinking about sex with a member of the same sex) and become a servant of God. God wants us to put him first, not our fleshly desires.

The practice of homosexuality is destructive to the human soul. God makes it clear that homosexuality is a sin (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26–27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Jude 1:7; 1 Timothy 1:10; Revelation 21:8). Supporting gay marriage is a sin because it means to support homosexuality and the perversion of Holy Matrimony. If a nation legalizes gay marriage, that nation will be cursed.
Homosexuality is caused by iniquity. Iniquities (tendencies that cause one to sin) pass down the generation line (Numbers 14:18). When one accepts Lord Jesus as their Saviour, God forgives their sins and removes their iniquities (evil tendencies) in the subsequent transformation process which makes one more and more like Christ.
2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Hebrews 9:12-14
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
After genuinely accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, ALL sinners (those who practice homosexuality, alcoholics, liars, drug addicts, fornicators etc.) will be saved and transformed. Each believer is cleansed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and receives the infilling of the Holy Spirit who renews them.
REDEMPTION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
Because mankind is incapable of meeting God’s standard of perfection necessary to abide in God’s presence (Romans 3:19-20,23), God sent His Son Jesus Christ to pay the total debt for the believer’s sins and mercifully credits to his account Christ’s righteousness (Romans 3:21-28,5:1-11; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21). Jesus’ gracious act of atonement was complete and covers all sin (Colossians 2:13-14; 1 John 1:9). Salvation is not based on good deeds but according to the mercy of God (Titus 3:4-5). Believers are justified by faith; it is a gift by God’s grace (Romans 4:3-8; Ephesians 2:8-9). A true, living faith will result in a desire to live a holy, loving life of good works (Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 5:6; James 2:14-26), but failure to be absolutely successful at righteous living does not negate the believer’s justified status.
If you sincerely say this prayer, your sins will be washed away, you will be redeemed to God, be saved from eternal torment and inherit the Kingdom of God:
"Dear Jesus,
I am a sinner.
I repent of my sins.
Please forgive me and save me by your shed blood;
come into my heart.
I want to receive you as my own personal Lord and Savior.
Amen"

Yes. There's no grey area. The bible says..."If a man lies with a man as he does with a women, that is an abomination." I don't know how much clearer you can get.
