No. My family was Christian and I was not treated this way and neither are many Christians.

Well I have learned to look behind smoke and mirrors in my life time and see what is real. The job I do as a metaphysical counsellor and coach requires me to do that. This story is not really about the drunkard, worthless, rebellious son. The son is really the lesson not only for the parents but all of those exposed to this story. In their eyes he is a burden to society, but their eyes come from the ego, who knows what God has to say about this. In they eyes of God, he does not love one person more than the other, and does not judge based on actions, he loves everyone infinitely and the same. Yes, even the Adolf Hitler!! The lesson here is acceptance, and understanding you cannot control another person actions. The Bible is all about cryptology, once you start to see the real meaning, and not take the messages in a literal sense the divine light enters in. What do you think would have happened if the offered support and love to this man rather than judging him?

Although this question is worded in such a manner that suggests sarcasm and deprecation, I will choose to give you my brief answer:
The book of Deuteronomy is NOT the teaching of Christ; rather, it is Old Testament law which is a part of the OLD Covenant that God made with his people.
Christ has brought a NEW covenant and, as a "Christian" (or a committed follower of Christ), I am careful to interpret the old laws through the lens of Christ.... careful to find His spirit in the law and not simply read the letter of the law (which is called "legalism").
That's just my two cents : )

Common sense is the answer to this: NO. In this day and age, with all these SCAN and child abuse laws, there is no way you can act that out literally. Not all parents (Christian or non-Christian) discipline their children in the same way. You could "stone" them by turning off the television and giving them books. Also, the Bible was written in Hebrew, a language based on mathematics. There could be many interpretations for "stoning."

Important point -- this is Old Testament. Re-read the New Testament some time, and you'll see that it pretty much says that the old laws no longer applied after Jesus died and rose...
And no, I've never heard of Christians following that particular law, or whatever it is. Although a very few do do insane things like beat their children for 'sins they may have committed but didn't get caught doing' or stuff like that.

No, we don't.
We are told not to frustrate our children also. We are the closest thing to God that the children see. We are where they get their image of Him from.
AREN'T YOU GLAD THE RULES FOR STONING ARE NOT APPLICABLE TODAY? (Caps for emphasis.. not shouting) Based on some of your previous answers you would have to be stoned .......... These are your comments copied from various questions posted on this site......
On a question if Christians were told what to believe... "As well as being blind and brainwashed yeah. That about sums them up"
I get that all the time. Xtians are so judgemental ( emphasis on MENTAL
ON Resurrection Mass ---- More religious crud
.Response to a simple statement from someone that said they would pray for us........" Why do you say you will pray for atheists because they need help?
"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?"
Please don't try to pretend to be Christian with sincere questions when you are just wanting to antagonize.

Heh... as much as some people understand that they are supposed to follow what is in the New Testement, they do not, or they mis-interpret, or they look for others to tell them what to do rather than actually doing what they are supposed to do.
So, in the end, the answer is No for the Old Testement ways and No for the New Testement ways. Everyone is still being led by the nose to the feet of Satan through their ignorance.

There is an oversight here.
Your question refers to Christians ....however, you quote a law in Deuteronomy.
The law given through Moses was for the Israelites, now often referred to as Jews.
Are you Jewish?
Christ put an end to the law
Colossians 2:14
Romans 6:14
Christians have interest in Jewish law only to have a bit of insight into God's personnality ...we are not subject to it.

'Train a child in the way he should go...' -- When a child is taught by what God really says, there isn't a need for that kind of extreme discipline. And don't forget, we're no longer under a theocracy, with God directly ruling in secular, civil affairs.

Again you have a serious flaw in your understanding of Scripture Pal..
We are in New Testament ....if you want to go back to the days of OT then go right ahead...we don't care ..
but if you want to know the Love and grace of Jesus Christ... then you will need to repent of your sins and ask him into your life.
If you don't have the courage to do that then you are resigned to stay in the Condemnation of the O T. Law.
Its your choice.
