They are a good source of Vitamin B. They also tend to make sugar and starch ferment in your gut so you get bloated. They're not much use for losing weight.

They provide you with vitamin B but they're not really good for dieting. You may be thinking of bran tablets, with these you chew a couple and then drink water before meals and they make you feel full so you eat less.

If you are looking for something to help dieting try 'Green Tea Extract' by Good and Natural at Holland and Barrett's, not only does it help speed up your metabolism it is also great for your general health overall. It is especially great because you only have to take 1 capsule per day , veggie friendly, and it is supposed to be equivalent to 10 cups of tea. Not a gimmick really good for you.

No effect.

You want fiber tablets. Taken with meals, they can help keep the body from absorbing carbs. They will not make you loose weight unless it is part of a comprehensive diet plan.
