Not being disrepectful to my City, I love it hear. But would feel a lot better if my Council Tax was put to better use. I would love to start a REVOLUTION to make Glaswegians more PROUD and WILLING to pay for a better City! The problem is that we seem to be unable to reep the benefits of tourism? Is that just me? Are they cleanining our City, making a more pleasant place to stay?

Have YOUR say, and I may start the REVOLUTION we need!

How on earth would a petition make any difference? Get real! It's not just about people being willing to pay - Scottish Enterprise Glasgow (among others) has spent hundreds of millions of pounds over the last 15 years trying to make Glasgow a better place - I know, I was there - and here we are, all those years later, with Glasgow now the most unsafe and least desirable place in the country.
There are huge issues here - urban renewal, economic regeneration, poverty, health and education, crime, etc etc etc.
Who exactly would you serve your petition to? The scum drug-dealers who blight communites (along with their friends the money-lenders, muggers, neds and drunks?) They're the ones who have dragged Glasgow down, aided and abetted by many others. Those who have moved their companies elsewhere, those who are happy to let their children run wild, those who are happy to take advantage of the tourist.

Glasgow's Miles Better?

I think not.

Speaking as an Englishman who has visited Scotland on more than a few occasions I have to say I find the places I have visited (including Glasgow) exceedingly nice already. Having said this I dont know what it is like to live there. As a gesture of Neighbourliness though I would sign your petition.

Speaking as someone who has never been to Glasgow, my impression is that it is somewhere well worth visiting - though plainly it has had it's difficulties. Mind you, I'm from Belfast so I understand negative publicity and perhaps I don't take it so much into account. Anyway, I for one would LOVE to visit Glasgow and no doubt people like you make it a better place for us all. Good for you for caring about your city - I hope it becomes the place you can see it being.

Glasgow is one of the most corrupt cities in Europe and you want to give them more money?? you want to speak to some real Glaswegeans hen, I assume you live in one of these new plastic shitoles they're throwing up on the edge of Drumchapel or some of the other schemes, and giving it a new polite sounding name like Kilpatrick View.. Ha!... View what?? if you want to start a petition start one that'll give the Glaswegeans their city back!.. I'll drive you round the schemes if it helps .. have a nice day.

Let's face it, most of the money we pay in council tax and direct income tax just never makes it out of the departments it's designated to. Most of it just gets used up in red tape before any is spent externally. So to get any real improvement out of the system it will need a hell of a lot of money put into it.

If you want to start a revolution try basing it on cutting down red tape and levels of government then we might actually see some improvements.

Im sick of walking through Glasgow, and 30 Big issue guys hassle me for a sale, or the Junkies wanting £1 for the last train home to Airdre (you know the dude outside Central station).
It makes me sick.
I was in McDonalds in Argyle st, and a junkie came in, begging for £, he put me off my food.
I'm up 4 signing a petition!

Agreed about the council Tax and puttung that to better use, but as far as putting you're name on a bit of paper to make things better? I doubt that would make much of a difference, though never hurts to try. If it works, great! You could even be a better politicion, then ones we have already, you never know?

What exactly is your solution? Tell your MP, they are very willing to listen to genuine suggestions. And by the way, I love Glasgow, very friendly place, but it definitely has it's fair share of problems.

Glasgow is a great city. I was there with my family recently and we had a ball, even though it is as dirty as any other British city.
You cannot force people to be proud.
