If there really is a god, I think it's nature and motivation will be beyond our comprehension. Without any direct contact from god, how can we know its will? and I'm not talking about the will of humans claim to talk to god.

Exactly. Those who claim to know the workings of some higher beings mind are just kidding themselves.

I often thing of that philosphy/science brain melter - "What happens if you continue to fly upwards?" If you reach a barrier - what is beyond it? If you come back on yourself, what is beyond the circle you just made? Infinity - no, thanks my brain cannot compute it....

Exactly - so if the human brain, has no way of grasping infinity (a very likely concept) - then we must accept our minds have very set boundaries as would that of a dog and a cat. To try and grasp what a super-being would be thinking from a human point of view is both arrogant and a bit silly.

God doesn't actually talk to humans directly any more. However, we can still have definite answers to our questions by examining the Scriptures with an open mind not clouded by what we were raised to believe. The bible is a letter, if you like, to guide us through life (ROMANS 15:4) and (2 TIMOTHY 3:16, 17)
Those who choose to ignore it always come worse off, whether they admit to it or not.
If you doubt this - ask me any question and I will answer it using the Scriptures (which is in fact using God's Word so it is what he thinks on the matter not what I think, so that is not arrogance)

My point exactly. I'm a Christian, and I do my best to follow what God leads me (by His Holy Spirit) to do, but I don't claim to know the mind of God. No one does, because it's too vast for any of us to understand. That's why all these questions that start out "Why does God..." or Why did God..." make no sense, and probably should be ignored, because all we can do is give an answer that we can only base on speculation, based on what we know of God through the Bible and His Holy Spirit. But to anyone who wants an answer based on proof, no one can give that.

Why would an infinite being create finite beings? The Nature of God is our comprehension, and our comprehension is our reaching to "Him" or "It".
Knowing the Mind of God, through dedicated communing, through prayer/meditation, recognizing Its obvious closeness and love, is to know our mind as one with God, for God can create only through Its own Being, to extend that Being to all creation, and create us one with Itself; this is not arrogance, but the relinquishment of our terrible sense and insistence that we are separate from God...that insistence is arrogance.

But suppose a person has indeed had just such an encounter. Wouldn't it be equally arrogant to claim knowledge that NO ONE can ever have that kind of experience, especially since claiming that bit of knowledge requires knowledge of other minds, and perhaps of ultimate reality itself?

No one can know the mind of God but we can follow direction from the Holy Scriptures and also realize that he does lead us in the way we should go.

its all dogma, although some will say that theres no such thing as god and some beliefs are so strong becuase as back up they have the bible, but in the bible theres no writings on evolution, religon in a way makes ppl feel protected and less vunerable, it give us a purpose of being. no one really knows what god wants, if there really is a god

You're right - without direct contact from God we couldn't know him.

Wasn't that the point of Jesus coming to earth?

Good point, yet, I declare Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I don't know the mind of God, but, I do know him. He is the one who wakes me up and puts me to sleep, feeds me everyday, sees me through the rough times and understands my feelings. But, through all that he loves me unconditionally, I don't' have to be perfect. I can continually ask for forgiveness and believe in my heart that he will give it. God is good all the time. I'm assured that one day you'll come to that point in your life too.
