Probably a hot glue gun would be your best option, but simple white glue might work too.

wrap the fabric onto the back of the wood board and then staple the fabric down. Thats how I do it when Im making fabric wrapped wood cornices

I would use a spray adhesive, so you don't have the bleeding through like with other types of glues.

try hot glue.
