When will people learn that EVOLUTION DOESN'T SAY THAT MAN CAME FROM APES!!!???

What evolution says is that MAN, along with apes, came from a previous ancestor.

It is just like us and our cousins. We did not come from our cousins, and they did not come from us, but we BOTH came from our grandparents...

I think people refuse to learn about evolution because they think they know what it says already. And under their false understanding of evolution, the know it to be incorrect.

It's easy to say evolution isn't true when you don't know what you're talking about...

They need to go here, and then decide whether it's true or isn't true. http://evolution.berkeley.edu/ This site explains it fully... If someone reads the whole site, and still has a problem with it, contact me...

Remember, Evolution is not like a ladder, but like a branching bush...

You bring up wonderful points.
The problem is that creationists will generally spread outright lies about evolution to people that have no other source of information about it.

The ignorance of what evolution really is and the facts behind it is in this one quote that I couldn't help but laugh at, "If you breed two dogs, you will not get a fish."

This shows that the person who said that has absolutely no clue what evolution is or how it works, and that his only source of information about it was from a creationist.

Creationists have launched a smear campaign against evolution in an attempt to fool people into continuing to believe their myths.

You're right. It doesn't say humans came from apes. Darwin also pointed out that his theory was just that -- a theory. He was a scientist and never expected people to take his theory as a given fact, just a reasonable concept for study, discussion and further refinement.

I think until people realise this point -- that evolution is NOT a fact but a theory -- there will be endless heated and pointless discussion along the lines you have mentioned. The theory of evolution most definitely exists so in that way, it is true -- but that doesn't mean that what it postulates is true. Until it CAN be demonstrated as a fact and hence no longer called a 'theory' I don't see why people should get so het up about it.

But they DO!

In other words, you made a good point and the answer is 'never'.

People won't see what they are too lazy or afraid to see. They have their own ideas of what's going on and learning anything different can be an uncomfortable, even painful process. They would have to shed ideas they had about the world and admit that they may be wrong.

In Plato's cave, we are all chained in the dark watching shadows on the wall and we think that's reality. The true philosopher is the one who breaks free of his chains and find his way out of the cave. At first he is blinded by the light of the outside world, but soon he adjusts and find a beautiful, colorful world such as he has never known before. He then goes back to the cave and tries to free his fellows, but some will not listen. They keep believing that the shadows before them are all that there is to life.

You're absolutely right.

To scottythecomic: I suspect you don't even understand the 2nd law of thermodynamics, let alone that law in the context of evolution.

The earth is not a closed system. We get a great deal of energy input from the sun. If you don't understand why that invalidates the creationist arguments about the 2nd law, then you don't understand the 2nd law.

And to BigE: But Einstein never said the more he understood science the more he believed in the literal interpretation of the Bible. I am certain that if Einstein were alive today he would say that S.H. is correct.

I'm sick of questions like "why are there apes if the evolution is true?" that come from people that don`t even know what the theory of evolution says. Good idea to post it, maybe those idiotico-ignorant questions will stop. Good job.

You're saying that humans and apes must have had a common ancestor yet apes and humans have different numbers of chromosomes per cell. If this is true, where has the new information come from or what happened to the lost
information? Einstein said the more he studied science the closer he came to God

To be accurate, we *are* apes - We are most closely related to other apes such as the chimpanzees, gorillas etc., and more distantly related to other primates such as monkeys and tarsiers.

Other than that though, good effort... It's a shame that it won't have any effect on the irrational people who prefer fantasy to fact.

People who insist that evolution has no proof do so simply because they don't want to know. You can't teach someone who refuses to learn.

Great Spirit Prayer

"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,

Whose breath gives life to all the world.

Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.

Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others.

Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy

Myself.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
