First off, you haven't made as big a mistake as you think you have. Everyone feels like crap in basic and is wondering what the hell they got themselves into. Plus everyone in your platoon is probably a huge asshole. After basic you are going to get to your unit and it is really not that bad. I spent the first 4-6 months of active duty after training partying like it was 1999 (it was actually 2001). Hang in there and do not do anything stupid and try to get discharged. The Army is a great deal and the only way out of it now is to get a entry level seperation which is not easy and you have to give back or are ineligible for any benefits you might have or may get. Basically your chain of command has to determine you are such an idiot that the military cannot train you. I have seen the paperwork on these types of discharges take months if not years. Do not try to break a leg or try to get out on a medical. It is VERY unlikely that you are going to be able to hurt yourself bad enough to get out of the military. We had guys who tried to get out by breaking arms in basic . They just had to sit in basic training for an extra 4 months in a cast!! I bet 7 months of basic was fun. Just hang in there and it will be over before you know it. If you are using the internet in basic by the way, you'll be fine. Are you at Jackson?

Well since you are asking the question, I understand that you are not in basic training.

If by chance someone does join and feels as if they have made an error in their choice they can request an administrative discharge with in the first 180 days!

I urge you however to give that more thought than you did to joining in the first place.

You pretty much have to deal with for as long as you signed up for because you made a commitment to them. Now if you do something crazy and tell them you're gay, or you constantly break serious rules, you will get a dishonorable discharge, which will pretty much ruin you. I believe it will make you not able to get certain jobs in the civilian world and other things that will hurt you. So to answer your question, i think you have to pretty much deal with it until your contract is up.

Within your first 6 months you can get discharged with the excuse of "failure to adapt" though you will get out it the paper work takes a while and lets just say if there are any scrub jobs that need to be done you will get stuck with them in the meanwhile. My advice will be just to stick it out. When you get into the "operational" military its a lot diffrent then when you are in training status.

Tough it out. Everyone has these feeling in basic training. Wait until graduation and you will be proud of your self. Remember that Army commercial, "Its time to be a man". Being a man includes sticking with your decisions. You decided to join the Army and serve your country. Your country needs you, don't back down.

Say your gay and your out. Be advised they will stick you with a bill for your uniforms and inoculations you got. Boot always causes buyers remorse it will pass stick it out I went through it so can you by week 5 or 6 you'll be in line with everyone else. Give it a chance sad sack before you do something really stupid. Not to mention how will you explain it to your family and friends once you get home.

There are many options but dont let the fear of the unknown keep you from finishing basic. The reward is much better. If you really feel you made a mistake, ask your Drill Sergeant to see a Chaplin.

You signed a contract and committed to that contract on your own. Quit being an a** and serve your country proudly and do your duty as your expected to do. Your just a home-sick pip-squeak right now and it'll soon get better.

Why did you join in the first place? just finish your 3-4 year contract. Best option.
