You gotta play at least $5 on the slots. Beginners luck, you'll hit it big! (no, probably not but do it anyway).

I would say play whatever your friend is playing, but if all he/she does is slots or some kind of poker, you may want to try something else.

Blackjack is the most common and the game with the best odds in your favour (while your still more likely to loose, there is a set, mathematical way to play that maximizes your odds of winning).

I suggest Roulette. It's a fun, colourful, social game played with lots of people (but not against them) and great for first timers.

Just watch for a bit first. Your basically trying to predict or guess where a little white ball is going to land on a ring of numbers ranging from 1-36 with 0 and 00.

The basic games are black jack, roulette, and if you know how to play poker a little bit, three card poker. Then there are the slots of course, although these are less social games.

Go to a site like VegasRed.com and play with play money for free so you can get the hang of the games before you go.

Good advice from one or two of the replys .Take only what you can comfortably afford to lose and when it's gone leave.Don't go to the ATM for more.
