It is similar. Boot camp is 13 weeks, followed by 24 days at the School of Infantry(assuming your job is other than infantry). Then you will go onto your MOS school that will vary in length depending on your MOS(job).

To get into boot camp you have to be able to do 3 pull ups, run 1.5 miles in 13:30 and something like 50 crunches in 2:00. It is very simple and you will be in even better shape at the end of boot camp.

Good luck

Don't listen to the people that have nothing good to say about the Military. If you want to be a part of the most elite fighting force in the world, join the Marines. There is nothing more rewarding to hear someone tell you, "Thank you for sercing our country." As for the physical aspect of things. Marine Corps boot camp is on the more difficult side then the Army. I am not saying Army bootcamp is easy, it is just that if you want to be a Marine, you have to be the best. Talk to a recruiter, but beware, becuase most of the time they will just say what you want to hear. Being in the military is tough, and is a life-changeing event. I think it is a very rewarding job.

You might be a marine or army soldier.....but non the less Ive seen em get treated and talked to.....and they get treated like s h i t ........ think twice dude before you join....your joining to an obligation of 8 years in the military. Army and marines both equally and most likely if your a male go to irak. More power to you if you join tho....its tough out there man, it really is. Most civilians here would encourage you, but at the same time they dint know how it is....and their sitting at home comfy on their couch eatin pizza lol. Marine boot camp is more physical demanding than army..... Marines are soldiers who just have infantry training. lol. The few the proud....there's a sh*t load of marines, you wont be the only one lol. You're gonna have curfews, restricted liberty if you go some where new....food sucks and stuff...... Deployments.. Get the picture???? But if you join man, good luck to you....and join a good job...the better job you get, the better your life will be. Good luck man.....

Not quite.
Physically
Minimum of
3 pull-ups
50 sit-ups
3 mile run in under 28:00
You can not do all of these and pass. You must complete higher than these or you will be put in the physical conditioning platoon at boot camp. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT!
After boot camp you will go to Marine Combat Training and then to you Military Occupational Specialty school. Boot Camp is 3 months, MCT is 17 training days and your MOS school can be 1 month to a year depending on your job.

The only difference in the Army and Marines, is that in the Marines you get a hole drilled into your head and your brains sucked out!!! While in the Army you are allowed to keep all of your brain cause you'll need it. The Marines just follow orders. Hence the term , Jarhead!
