it's not bad..but it will damage your hair eventually.
if you want, you can buy a straightening balm which helps prevent your hair of damage from the high heat.
or you could just get your hair trimmed, and condition to keep your hair hydrated.

In a word, yes.
Flattening irons are very hot. They are usually anywhere from 300 to 400 degrees or hotter. That is a lot of heat to put to your hair.
Consider this:
Your hair contains natural moisture that boils, just like water at about 212 degrees. When you use a heat styler like a flat iron or curling iron, you are boiling the moisture in your hair shafts. That boiling causes permanant bubbling. The bubbling causes a weak spot in the hair shaft. The weak spot becomes a white dot, then a shattered, broken hair. Or a nasty split end. Now, imagine that multiplied to tens of thousands of hairs all over your head doing the same thing. Not a pretty picture, is it?
And those "heat protection" products? All they are is silicone. Silicone does not keep heat from dmaging your hair. It provides slip so that the heat styler doesn't stick to the hair it is burning as it is straightening it.
Bottom line, flat irons are death to your hair.

no, the ceramic iron is the best iron for your hair. Just make sure you get regular trims because any kind of styling has the potential to damage your hair. Also you should be very gentile while styling so as not to pull and break your hair. otherwise you will get short "flyaway" pieces that stick off the top of your head

Well, it won't do as much damage as it would if you straightened every day. There will be a little bit of damage, though. Just make sure to use products for your hair before you use a heated appliance. I like biosilk silk therapy shine on. It protects your hair from the heat. Also be sure to get regular trims to take off the bad ends. Hope I helped!

Even though it's only once a week, over time it will show signs of damage. But make sure to trim it regularly and purchase hair care products which are meant for heat-treated hair.

I straighten my hair probably once a month. I find that if I do it more frequently, my hair just looks burnt, dull, and dry. But everyone's different.
