My husband sleeps 10+ hours in a given day/night (24 hr period) and lounges another 2-3. He had a complete physical exam (tradmill, etc) and was found to be in great physical health. I feel he is either depressed or one of the laziest humans alive. He says there is nothing abnoraml about his behavior.

Although you do need more sleep as you get older, there's no reason a 45-year-old man should be sleeping 10 hours a day. Most adults only need 8 max. Sleeping more than necessary is actually linked to a lower life expectancy.

10 hours is not uncommon for a person to sleep. The average adult should sleep about 7-8. It really just depends on how active he is, his metabolism, and many other factors that regulate sleep. Does he work out? Does he eat alot? All of these can change how someone sleeps.

He might be the kind that needs a lot of sleep. You should be patient and try to have quality time when he is awake...
I like waking up before my husband does (sometimes)-- I can spend time with myself, read a newspaper, answer some emails, write in my journal or study for a class... I also have a wonderful breakfast ready when he awakes. ;) Sometimes I just stay in bed reading a book and wait till he wakes up, so I can be the first thing he sees when he opens his eyes! ;)

I'm not 45 but if I get more than 6 hours it's too much sleep, I doubt he's really in peak physical condition because with daily exercise it seems less sleep is required.

hes right ,at his age hes doing what his body says he needs ,infact if you shut ur eyes for a little while in the afternoons, you would function better, remember,it wasnt that long ago we would probably be dead due to old age at 40 ,so id say hes doing ok ,its not lazy its just the body needs to slow down and men tend to be able to do it better than us ,ladys find it harder to relax ,we really should try to do a bit more relaxing ,i do now if i get the time ,and i feel so much better for it ,but if i dont get a bit of peace in the afternoons ,im a reall grumpy by tea time ,join him have a cuddle and a doze,it will make you feel 100%
