Paul mentioned this in his letter to the church at Corinth.
"For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised, and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless and you are still in your sins. Yes, even those who have died in Christ are lost. If we have set our hopes on Christ in this life only, we deserve more pity than any other people." (I Corinthians 15:16-19)
What people forget about is this: He was seen after He rose from the dead. Paul pointed people to ask the eyewitnesses. All of the Apostles except for one, died gruesome deaths for that claim. All they had to do was to recant. Had they done so, they would have been spared. But they died with "He is risen!" on their lips.
No one goes willingly to their death for something they know to be a lie. During the Watergate affair, the conspirators couldn't keep their lie straight for two weeks, and the worse that would happen to them was prison. No death threat. The Apostles had a choice, and died.
And they weren't powerful men, either. They were fishermen and a tax collector. Ordinary (and one despised) men.

Jesus didn't die on the cross. Qumran Library records mention Jesus at the age of 76. It is still thought by historians and some theologians that the person crucified was a Simon of Micea.
Jesus was the rightful King of Jerusalem (being of the House of David) and had some very powerful and rich friends.
Even the Koran states that Jesus was not crucified. How they know, I have no idea.

the Old Testament predicted the crucifixion of Jesus before the Romans had even invented the method. The last passages of the Old Testament was written more than 400 years before the birth of Jesus. That is proof that the Old Testament is from God.
The Resurrection of Jesus is proof that He is God
There are numerous non-Christian accounts of the Crucifixion of Jesus, Tacitus, Pliny the Younger, Eusebius.
More than 500 people saw Jesus after the Resurrection

Jesus was crucified by the Roman based on testimony from the Jewish elders because he claimed to be the Messiah. Sure,He could have saved Himself by doing a few miracles in front of Pontious Pilate. But then where would we be as a race?
Think how differently history would have been without His death.

No. Jesus' life and death were predicted by the prophets throughout the Old Testament hundreds of years before he was even born. His whole reason for coming to earth was to teach some important messages to his disciples, but most importantly of all to sacrifice his life for us so that our sins could be forgiven in the eyes of God.
Before Jesus was born, the people used to sacrifice animals in the hope that the blood of the slain animals would be enough to wash away their sins and cleanse them before God. That wasn't enough, which was why Jesus did what he did and sacrificed himself for us. Only his sacrifice was sufficient, because he led a sinless life. He didn't have to do that, but he chose to because he loves us and wants us to be saved.

I think that people see dying as a HUGE sacrifice. Well, it is. And the way that the bible is set up, it makes it look like the biggest sacrifice that's ever happened. Jesus dying, of course. I'm not much into bible literature, but God sent his SON, did he not? Why? Why not come himself? And besides, millions of people have died for God since then. Why don't we worship THEM in church every Sunday? Jesus was only one of millions of people to die for our sins. He is just the only one everyone knows of.

Sometimes I don't get when my friends tell me that Jesus died for my sins. Don't other people die for other people's sins all the time? Like, A firefighter dies because a kid set a fire in a house. Isn't that dying for sins?

You started with a good question and then you attack. Its obvious you only ask this question so that you could mock Christians and more importantly Jesus Christ. Christ died for your sins, whether you like it or not. You don't have to believe for it to be true.
