If both BJ penn and Matt Hughes came prepared for this fight.. at the prime of their cardio and with no injuries at all...
I would pick BJ Penn based on skill and talent as well as experience in a variety of fighting styles
Matt Hughes would be the choice if based on wrestling/take down skills as well as strength...

Penn always amazes me. He looks so out of shape and not like Hughes. Now, Hughes is a monster cardio condition and just freakish strong. I still have to give the edge to Penn, but I would love to see Hughes take him out. Penn has just way too much ground skill and his punching power is second to none. I know he lost to GSP, but I think that Penn will pull it out by decision.

BJ Penn will defeat Matt Hughes and take back his title. Hughes is overrated and needs to be reminded what it feels like to be tapped out.

Definitely Matt Hughes. He is by far the best Welter Weight Champ out there.

I think Matt Hughes will win. He's learned more since the last time they fought and Penn is over-confident.

It's tough because I think BJ is a better fighter, but he has a habit of inconsistancy. Hughs shows up for every fight. If BJ shows up, then he'll beat Hughs down...If he doesn't show up then Hughs will easily win. (I know, sitting on the fence is hurting my butt too!).

Hughes, no doubt.
Penn got lucky last time, and Huges is clearly the superior fighter. Penn did not even qualify for a championship fight. He is only replacing St. Pierre who got injured in training. I think Penn was chosen more for his market ability than fighting skill.
Cheers,
Leo

My pick is Hughes. He's beat everyone he's faced since that fight and, including the UFC hall of famer Royce Gracie, and his game has just improved so much.
Now you take BJ Penn. He left the title and lost to GSP when he came back. I don't think his game has improved as much as Matt's.

Hughes is definitely going to win. B.J. is over confident because he beat matt before. Matt really wants this fight. He wanted this fight before St. Pierre beat Penn, he really wants to redeem this loss and prove to everyone the first time was a fluke. The first time Matt came in overconfident and wanted to straight up demolish B.J. but B.j. caught him with some good punches and Matt gave up his back. Thats not gonna happen this time and besides i heard B.J. was giving up his training method and was just gonna train casually because he says he gets burned out from training every day, so I think he is going to come in with bad cardio. He is going to gas in the first round and Hughes is going to take advantage of him. Hughes by Ground and Pound stoppage.
