cantankerous,
Because it sometimes seems that some question askers are trying to prove their mental superiority in a prideful display, rather than just asking the question.
And then, some people are bored by the topic.

Yes, because the average individual attempting to provide thought and insight, has no idea what a polysyllabic word is.

Depends on if anyone understands what the word "polysyllabic" means.
Seriously, it shouldn't make a diffrence.

Indubitably !
All kidding aside, I think many people are quite uncomfortable discussing the bases of their faith. And, those of us who do often lapse into a form of self-indulgent one-upsmanship.
So much for exegesis.
Your question actually is aimed at a relatively small community, so don't despair if you only get a few responders. We are out there, just not every day.

You have indeed made an astute observation. Although, it is not surprising considering the mentality and level of intelligence that is displayed by those that more often than not frequent this section. Unfortunately they tend to attempt to engage others individuals in areas with irrelevant and too often with combative and/or derogatory comments and questions that they have no comprehension of and More often than not, with fallacious information.

I hope not. People with smaller vocabularies also have access to dictionaries, either online or in book form. In other words, if the words used in a question are unfamiliar, their meanings can be easily ascertained by availing oneself of available resources.
