i am 16 and i am buying car and i am confused about these two cars. i dont know if i should buy the camryLE with 75,000 or the ford taurus SEL with 55,000. both have maintenance records. i have heard that taurses are very problematic is this true. please do not give me a lecture on teen drivers that should get cheap crappy cars because they wreck them easily which i know that it is not true on 85% of them. only 15 % are jackass teen drivers.

Camry is a far better, dependable, and longer lasting car.

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus Wagon right now. I've had three previous Tauruses and the older ones were better. Ford cut a lot of corners( in a manner of speaking) on the 2000 and later cars and that is disappointing and a shame. I only bought it because I needed a wagon for mountain biking trips. If you don't need a wagon, by all means, get the Toyota Camry. Personnally, my next vehicle (if I can come up with the cash) just may be the Toyota Sienna minivan. Put away the soccer-mom mobile jokes because these minivans are great.

If it were me, I would buy the Ford. It is newer, has less miles on it, is larger and has more room in it. Fords Tauruses do not hold their value that well. Since your car will be 4 years old, it has seen it's maximum depreciation. Toyotas have a better reputation and, as a result, they hold their value better.
If you are concerned about maintenance, consider buying an extended warranty or maintenance insurance on the Taurus. If you are a member of the AAA, you can get an extended warranty there.

I owned a 95 Taurus and was fixing it every other month, something would break. Traded it for a 98 Camry five years ago and the mechanic thought I moved away. Haven't had a lick of trouble from the Toyota.

Go with camry. There a more reliable car and a more reliable company. Ford is going to cost you more because of all the repairs that you will have to have.
