Here's what I think about diversity.... If someone is wrong.... they're wrong. I don't have a problem telling them so, either. I do, however, prefer to do it politely with facts as opposed to a large number of Answers participants who just employ juvenile name calling. Best thing to do is ignore the obnoxious posters.

Good question, but I must wonder about your explanation. I do see it as a two way street and in my view I see an awful lot of tough so called Christians on this site.

Do have a great day and smile. I do acdept your view as being yours for I do suspect you are in "organized" religion OK. If that is good for you, it is just fine with me my friend.

My Friend I am a "NO". That means I have a lot of views that seem to differ from the so called Christians. Now I did accept Jesus as My Savior about 50 years ago. I have spent the past 23 years in intense bible study using almost every awake hour in that practice. Sometimes I do ask questions based upon what I see and how I see it.I also answer the same and clearly state it is my opinion and it is OK with me if others do have a different opinion.

You know I get more hate mail and sent to hell more time by the so called Christians than I do by those who declare themselves as atheists or agnostics. I personally find the atheists and agnostics do try to reason but the so called Christians just Paste the bible, deliver sermons, and attack rather than try to reasonably explain or justify their position.

Please this is just my experience and maybe it is because I am in a special group as a "NO". You see I am the only "NO" I know because I refuse to get involved with "organized" religion. So seeing that such is my choice I just expect to get the bruises from those in organized religion OK. See I do believe in diversity and even diversity in explanations, answers, and questions.

Unfortunately there are two sides to this coin you have tossed. On the one hand, you are correct some atheist and others have been rude, but on the other side of that coin is the face of Christian hypocrisy and judgement. Truth is, when you lord yourself over people, it should not surprise you that sooner or later they will respond in kind. Sadly, many "godly" people on this site have used it to propagate hate and worse, have used scripture in a twisted manner to do it. I find it sadly ironic that some in the Christian community have insulted Islam by virtue of saying they twist the Koran to suit their needs yet don't see their own contortions when quoting scripture. This is the reality in today's world, religious zealotry on all sides has trumped honest discourse.

You need only look at responses you have rec'd, especially the answer preceeding mine. If that isn't judgement I don't know what is.

I believe in diversity. I think there are a few of us left. If you also believe, stick around and help us fend off the attacks. It gets tiring, there is little if any glory or thanks and sometimes we get angry and can't go on without rest. But if you stick with what you believe, it gets easier to put it into effective words and you grow stronger from the experience.
What do you say? Will you help fight the good fight or no?

People are free to believe what they want to believe. There are a lot of "religious" people who think that they should try to sway as many people into their religion or way of thinking as possible. I think it's fine to discuss it or to try to inform someone as to your point of view and why you believe in it, but people should not criticize others for not believing the same things that they do. Like I said, people are free (or at least should be free) to believe what they want, even if others do not agree.

I'm am atheist, I do not go on here to bash people. Don't over-generalize. This is also the culture section if you have not noticed, and I am a part of a culture.

Diversity and respect are best, but the disrespect and disharmony is evenly distributed. It certainly is not just the atheists.

Some people are under the illusion that they make themselves look better by comparison when they put others down.

Christians insult my Buddhist beliefs more than atheists, do not pick out one group and blame it.

Good points.

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,
John
