I will second the opinion of the second anwerer. Do not buy overpriced cables. Here is another source http://www.ehdmi.com/hdmi.html

If the cable works at all, it is as good as it gets. All HDMI cables are the same.

The so-called expert above is just plain wrong. Typical air head electronics salesman. I sell a Calrad 55-626-6 6 foot HDMI cable for under $30.00. Haven't had one complaint yet and I've sold lots of them for over a year now. My 35 foot HDMI cables cost about the same as Circuit City and Best Buy's 6 footers. Here's the truth.... Monster Cable is a farce. Digital signals don't give a damn about how expensive the cable is. If the signal gets from point A to point B, that's all that matters. That's the cool thing about digital... it's either there, or it's not. Unlike analog which can degrade over distances and lose some clarity. If all that crap Monster forces on an unsuspecting public were true, the other cable companies would be out of business. Think about that when you waste $100.00 on hype (and the salesman's commission).

There is not really anything to know ahead of time about HDMI Cables. It is the best cable for HDTV and carries both video and audio. If you have a surround sound system system that you will be using with the source you have to keep in mind that unless the receiver offers HDMI switching you will still need a separate audio cable to still utilize true surround sound. The only big difference between cables is quality of the cable. I recommend Monster Cable Products. A 6 ft cable will be $124.99 at Circuit City and even though you can get Belkin and others at a slightly lower price the quality is not the same!!

Just get a cheap HDMI cable. There are only a handful of manufacturers, so they all come from the same place. c|Net has an article that talk about that very thing.

All HDMI cables have the SAME manufacturing requirement's per HDMI.org. DO NOT spend over $100 for a cable that can cost less than $10.
